Simple but delightful
Great location from the shopping district in a reasonably quiet area. The bunks aren't too crowded per rooms and all signage is in multiple languages. Decor is updated and amenities are good. There's even a bath tub which is very uncommon for hostels! Friendly staff, and the check in/check out procedure was succinct. I would recommend this place to my friends.

The manager Ryu was very helpful. My flight was delayed so i missed the check-in period. However, he responded immediately to an email I sent and I was able to spend the evening inside the warm, cozy hostel.

Great new hostel right in the center of Kyoto
Overall a great hostel. Convenient location right in the heart of Kyoto. Friendly staff, clean new dorms with plenty of baggage space and comfy "capsule" style bunks. Plenty of locker space. No need to check out each morning if staying multiple days unlike many other hostels.
Only think that desperately needs improvement is the Wi-Fi which is almost unusable throughout the property with painfully slow speeds.

Very clean, great location
Stone throw from the main shopping arcade and nishiki market. Very clean hotel and friendly staff. Primarily a hostel with only two private rooms that is currently being remodeled to have four private rooms. Peaceful area. Will seriously consider staying there again.

Friendly and helpful staff, good location.
The staffs are friendly. The Chief/manager is nice and helpful. I got a top bunk bed (mixed dorm) and asked if possible to give me a lower bunk bed. And he found me a lower bunk at female dorm! I am very grateful because I hurt my wrist a little (I didn't tell him the reason but still helped me), so it was very hard for me to climb up and down. Unlike my experience in a Tokyo capsule hostel, I told them it is very hard for me to climb and also there is an empty lower bed right next to mine but they told me they cannot help me (not sure maybe system is auto?).
Also it is very well located, right near Nishiki market and Teramachi. Walking distance to Gion.
I also like the shampoo and conditioner, made my hair soft :)

Not bad..
There was a mix up in our booking and the Chinese student who looks after the place sometimes was hard to deal with. Originally she gave us one key to a dorm, then gave us two more, when we had originally booked the private bathroom room upstairs... management or Expedia to blame I’m not sure but wasn’t a great start.
Room looked tidy, but floors and air con system were extremely dusty. Laundry was good, although they are renovating downstairs atm..
Top bath was not available either...
Wifi was hit and miss also... it was close to Teramachi Markets and about 8 min walk to the nearest train station
