Spyglass was the perfect home away from it all! The location is seriously the best on the island. The house is clean, stylish, comfortable and convenient. Photos can’t do the views justice. We highly highly recommend staying at Spyglass for an opportunity to totally unplug and relax.
This was our second trip to Saba. Spyglass is a nice walk from Windwardside - a great way to burn off a few calories from the nice selection of restaurants in town. Spyglass is very well appointed with two nice sized bedrooms and a lovely kitchen thoughtfully stocked with the tools to whip up a great meal to enjoy while you look at one of the most spectacular views you could ever wish to see! We have travelled extensively and have been lucky to see some very beautiful places. My feelings on our first visit were confirmed as I again witnessed the most incredible display of lighting across the water. I would describe it as "a painter's light" - though I'm not sure anyone would believe it to be true if I were to paint the scenes as I saw them. It is almost unworldly, uniquely beautiful and completely mesmerizing. On the evenings I did prepare a meal, I found it nearly impossible to do because I kept leaving to watch the light change every few seconds during the sunset. Just as I was sure I had seen the most beautiful view of the evening, it was replaced by yet another impossible scene, only to change again and again with each blink of the eye. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay in a lovely home. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Spyglass villa is an amazing place; built to extremely high standards and well thought out. Everything you touch reeks of quality and durability. It has a very open feel and light and wind come in from all directions. It has a kind of luxury but off the grid vibe and as such has no A/C. You won’t miss it though as the house can be opened up as much as you like to take advantage of the cool bug free Saban nights with a constant breeze flowing through your bedroom. It gets cool enough to need a light jacket at night. But what really makes this villa is the incredible views. You can’t look in any direction and not have a feast for the eyes! From the side entrance looking back you see booby hill and sweeping left you see all the way up Mt. Scenery and the St. John’s and then an endless ocean view that doesn’t stop till all the way around to the back of the house for something like 250 degrees of water....it’s crazy. You have a clear view of St Eustatius and beyond but can still hear the waves crashing onto the rocks over one thousand feet down. The house is close to Windwardside and a great place to base from for a stay on Saba. I can’t say enough about it. My wife and I have stayed in many nice places and Spyglass definitely ranks at the top. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to make their stay extra special in the already extra special place that Saba is!
This is the absolute best place to stay on the island. The villa has the most incredible views. You see both the sunrise and the sunset! The villa it self is spacious and is well maintained. You can walk into town from here but also feel like you're away from it all.
Immaculate, charmingly designed and decorated home—although we were a little unlucky with the weather, we loved staying here. The view from this house is spectacular. The house was well stocked with towels and kitchenware—we found everything we needed. The grounds were designed for lounging while enjoying the view—an expansive sun deck, stone tub for cooling off, and an elevated covered porch off the house all provided relaxing seating for enjoying the view. The location was great for walking to the Windward Side restaurants (you must be fit as the roads to town are steep) or alternatively, taxis were readily available. The friendly taxi drivers are locals who have a wealth of information about the island. We hiked on the Mary’s Point trail which was a well maintained trail with a couple gorgeous view points and would have liked to hike the Mt Scenery trail but the top was shrouded in clouds for our entire stay. Had a delicious meal at Chez Bubba with Harry as our waiter—so pleasant and wonderful service. Would have liked to have tried The Brigadoon but with no reservation couldn’t get in—it was highly recommended. Enjoyed visiting Jobean’s glass jewelry shop and taking a quickie glass bead making lesson. She is very talented and I bought several pieces of jewelry. Would love to return to Saba and would stay at SpyGlass again!!
Pictures do not do justice for this house. Everything was perfect and Barney and Mark were a pleasure to work with.
Totally met our expectations. Very well maintained villa with everything one would think off available. Spectacular views of most of beautiful Saba
My wife and I love Saba and Spyglass is one of the more special places on Saba. The views are amazing and the villa is magnificent. The construction of the villa is masterful with solid build and attention to detail every where you look while designed for low environmental impact with flow through design (no AC) and solar hot water heater. Every day maid service is provided which is a very nice touch, it’s nice to cook and not do dishes. Spyglass is a real lifetime experience and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Saba, my wife and I were so struck by it the first time that we came back and brought friends exactly one year later!
This is a very beautiful property, very private at the end of the road. The view can not be underestimated , the interior is well appointed with travertine floors and baths. The kitchen is very roomy and an easy place to create a feast. Sitting above the village of Windwardside, it is an easy stroll into town or up to the "Level" to purchase great fresh vegetables and talk with the neighbors. Spyglass will seduce you.
My husband and I learned to dive on Saba during our honeymoon 22 years ago. It was wonderful to be back and the icing on the cake was staying at Spyglass. It’s a wonderful place and really well-managed from reservation to checkout. I’d give more than five stars if I could.
