Came a bit early but could check in early. Room was perfect , and had a sea view.. Breakfast was very good.. Evenings after 22.00 were quiet although dogs nearby started their 'orchestra' every evening around 17.00. Staff were excellent and extremely helpful especially the receptionists. They even arranged a lovely lunch packet as we had a very early flight back. This was a cozy down to earth hotel.

The property is fine and the owner/staff very nice but the room we had was very very basic, not so clean, very basic bathroom/shower and mosquitoes all over. The room felt like a 1 to 2 star small hotel and the property was more like a 3 star.

Lovely!
The hotel was incredibly good value. We loved our stay and no ask was too much of the extremely friendly staff, we were provided with packed breakfasts when out early for trips and helped us to get car hire easily too. The only thing which could improve would be the breakfast service. Food was good for the price but the way in which you have to queue up and point to what you would like is strange and seems unnecessary and can be difficult if there are language barriers. Otherwise we loved it and with that improvement it would be amazing!

Great place with outstanding service
Spent 5 days at this lovely hotel - nice view, good size rooms and incredible service (front desk very responsive and helped with trop recommendations!). Only downside is that it is a little far from Funchal - 35 min by foot or roughly 25 mins by bus.

2/10 Poor

The rooms downstairs are small lack everything’, no air conditioning at a place very hot and humid, a room for 4 people with 2 chairs inside and no coach to eat inside,a lot of bugs and flies .terrible rooms if they are on the lower floors We arrived early and pedro the manager forgot to send the cleaners to clean the room for us although he saw us waiting to apologize later saying they were distracted with lunch and cleaning other rooms.then they had a construction worker hammering non stop on the wall right next to hour room removing paint and peeling it when we were trying to sleep a little in a hot humid room we received late. But pedro is a nice apologetic likable and helpful person, But the rooms are terrible for the prive

Pleasant stay, great staff.
The villa is well located and the owner and all of his staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping does excellent job. The parking was easy. Unfortunately, there is no heating in the rooms (which is a bit unpleasant during the colder nights) and the room we got was humid (the owner kindly provided us with the electric dehumidifier, but it would be worth it to have it turned in the corner rooms at all times). The pool was slightly heated (but the maximum water temperature at this time reached 22 degrees).

Awful breakfast experience
Breakfast was really inconvenient and annoying. "Due to Covid" you couldn't serve yourself and had to explain to staff what you wanted. The staff were having a really hard time understanding and you had to point to food that was placed really awkwardly and they had to turn around back and forth every time you point at something, so the whole experience was a disaster. We just gave up in the end. It's been 2 years so stop using Covid as an excuse and figure it out like every other hotel has by now.

Such a beautiful place! The view from the room and the main area was stunning! Very warm welcoming and the staff was very flexible. Also, the breakfast was really complete. It’s only 5 minutes from the free ride Madeira (for mountain bikers). I definitely recommend it!

Great Boutique Hotel
Great stay. Front desk staff were amazing especially Carlos - he is a wealth of information. Clean hotel. Great restaurants near by. A bit of a hike to get to it but well worth the effort. Amazing breakfast. The only down fall was that WiFi was not working in our room for our stay - but they are trying to fix the issue.

average
Negatives- Hotel was very basic, no fridge, no safe, no air con, no smoke detectors in the room. The toilet smelt really bad, I think it’s the water in the toilets. There was no reception staff or any staff members from 10pm-8am, they say if any emergencies to call a mobile number. Good things- room was spacious, bed was huge, nice pillows, flooring was nice (wood). Breakfast wasn’t too bad, €5 PP for buffet breakfast. You could have scrambled eggs, bacon, mini sausages, bread rolls, cheese, hams, coffees/teas, juices, croissants, marble cake, fresh fruit. breakfast was from 8am-10am. (Not much of a window) they should really serve from 8am-11am at least. The room was very cheap, me and my husband paid £20 per night which is a bargain. The hotel is based on a hill, we walked down 3 mini hills to get to the ‘high street’ and you can only imagine what it was like getting back up to the hotel! There were regular buses that go into the city centre, buses 1,2 and 4. The hotel provided us with shampoo and soap bars, and you can ask for irons or hair dryers from the front reception
