This is a good place to stay if you want some peace and quiet from Marrakech city. The grounds are well kept and the hotel has a nice design and layout. The rooms are large, the bed was comfortable and the air con worked well. There are good views from the balcony looking out towards the mountains. The staff were friendly and helpful, and are around to serve food and drinks at the pool, which was nice. The hotel is quite far out from the city, so you will need a driver from the hotel to transport you around. We had a great driver, and the price was 150 Dirhams each way to the city, so this needs to be factored in to the cost of staying. There are a few worn out things that need fixing at the hotel - the bean bag sun loungers were splitting (and also not enough for all guests!!), there were a few nails sticking out of boards around the pool boards, some wood work in the rooms was broken. The bird cage at the front also needed cleaning with fresh water for birds. The hotel dog also looked like he needed to see vet, as he had a sore on his skin. They do serve lunch and dinner here as well, but communication was a bit poor. There were many times when the food on the menu was not available, and this caused some issues at lunch and dinner. The food is good in general, but nothing amazing. There are better places to eat in the city. Overall it was a good stay, but with a few issues that should really be resolved.
I thought the staff was very nice and helpful. I wouldn't say the hotel was 5 star more like 3 and a half star, example i went to Egypt 4 years before to a 4 star and i would say it was better than this 5 star. I had problems with the shower, it would either be scalding hot or freezing cold and kept fluctuating temperature. The drain for the shower was clogged so it would take long for the water to drain. I found holes in the walls, rust on alot of the bathroom fittings and also the stand for the umbrellas out in the garden. The garden furniture was dirty i had to put a towel over them to feel i wanted to sit on them so yh, after this rant i believe for the money it wasn't worth it but other than that the staff made me feel welcome and they was helpful if i needed help finding somewhere or wanting to learn a new word in Arabic, so a special thanks to Mounaim and ismail great guys!
Great discrete location with a small number of guests! Beautiful large rooms, easily sleeping three guests! We were particularly lucky to have the hot tub room!! Staff were very kind and helpful!
The experience went from good to bad. Some of the staff was friendly except one of the man (bigger built one). The food we wanted from the kitchen was never in stock so we had to pay for food we didn’t like. If you was a pestiarian you didn’t have much food to choose for except tuna which also ran out of stock. This hotel is far from city so not much places you could go unless paying for taxi . The entertainment is rubbish as for the tv it never worked throughout our stay. I don’t think I would stay again as I never enjoyed the food or attitude of some staffs and no entertainment. Also couldn’t go in swimming pool as their hotel dog kept drinking out the water
very far to city
This is a lovely family run hotel quite a distance outside Marrakech. Taxis cost around £15 each way from Marrakech so needs to be kept in mind. The hotel is located in a pleasant garden setting with outside pool - if the weather had been warmer we would have definitely had a swim. The name is perhaps a bit misleading from an English perception of the word 'spa' as there was a swimming pool but no hot-tub/ jacuzzi/steam room etc. Overnight temperatures are low at this time of year so it was a bit chilly but we got extra blankets which was good! Breakfast is traditional Morrocan which was lovely although they charge for additional tea/coffee which is on the bill at the end of the stay. There was no hotel sign for the Bird on the main road which confused and delayed taxi drivers and the SatNav is to a nearby (but incorrect) address so having the hotel phone number ritten down and ready to hand was vital! Saying all this we would return again to the Bird as it's a tranquil and charming place. Ishamel, one of the waiters, was particularly good and helpful with arranging taxi's etc which was much appreciated.
Writing on behalf of my wife: Our room was situation outside in the Garden next to the pool so the view was very good out of our garden door, the breakfast was nice, it is not buffet but it was plenty. There is only one person making the breakfast so people have to wait to be served in turns. the only criticism is the room temperature on the first night was very cold even though we set the heating to maximum. There was no carpet on the floor and the floor was extemely cold too. Our biggest struggle was the water temperature. You could never get it right as either it was freezing cold or boilig hot. You only get a soap which completely dries your skin out so make sure you bring all your shower gel, face wash etc. If you arrive late make sure you bring food as you will not be able to order dinner after 4pm A suggestion would be to have a shuttle bus from hotel to Madina as it can be far for those not driving on their own. The atmosphere was really relaxing and we did have good time and we probably will go back. My wife rates 8 out of 10 I rate 10 out of 10 with no complaints. May be water temperature a small issue for me
I’m not a frequent traveller so perhaps I view things differently when it comes to hotels but this place was sensational. A drop of tranquility amongst a sea of combustion. Marrakech is such a vibrant and busy city so it’s nice to be able to escape away from it all to find some peace. Here the rooms were clean and our own room was huge. The staff were all friendly considering English isn’t a well spoken language for them. The breakfasts were sizeable and nice. We ate at the restaurant one night and it was fantastic food too. All in all, I would highly recommend if you want to experience Marrakech but also have a break away from the hustle and bustle and just relax.
We had come there to do some work and relax however we had some issues. Firstly, we could not work because the internet is extremely poor. It was in the middle of no where which would have been fine if there was food to eat. The restaurant serves once a day and you have to be there 4pm to place to your for the evening if you were to venture out. We had to leave because our room had a sewage smell that got worse after every flush. It seemed to emenate through the toilet, the skin and the bathtub. If you speak English good luck trying to communicate, they do speak a little English; however if you have issues or need something there is a chance they may not understand. We asked to leave after the first night and was promised w e would get our money back and then they did not honor their promise.
Very calm and private place if you looking for calm and relaxation, not far from the centre but a car is a must.
