Always nice to be here for its location and helpful staff. You really don't need a motorbike or transport due to it's proximity to both the night bazaree and Tha Pae Gate.China Town just around the corner ...also great for shopping and supplies. Quite the museum for Antique enthusiasts as well.

Ants in the bed, ants on the table, ants in the bathroom, ants in the shower…ants everywhere. They got into my backpack and my luggage. This place needs serious pest control. The bathrooms need remodel, there is no dedicated shower area, the water spills everywhere including dry wall, causing mold and decay. The location and staff are quite nice, but the fact that it was so dirty with all the ants ruined it for me.

Dated and tired looking.
The location was great and the staff were friendly but the room was tired looking and small.
I really enjoyed staying here, for me the location was great. The Lady and the gentleman working at the front are fantastic and very helpful. I thought the place was very unique and quirky and loved the old feel of it with all the wood and the collections and vintage advertisements. The room was nice and had enough room and a small old tv that I actually really enjoyed finding some english movie channels on. The only downside thatnthis was the hardest bed in a land of hard bed that I had ever slept on. It was a rock and my back and hips definitely felt it. They offered to clean my room every day if I choose though and while this was completely unnecessary I think I had it cleaned twice in the week I was there. I also really lucked out that I was there during the Chiang Mai Flower Festival and the parade route goes right by the hotel, so I had a front row seat while I enjoyed my coffee. Definitely try the Indian restaurant Spices down the road. I think this is a bit of gem of a true budget accomodation still left with good service and clean rooms at a really affordable price in an area being taken over by boutique hotels.

Alright stay
Totally fine just for a couple of nights, sweet and helpful staff, super cute dog in the reception, not super cozy rooms but they have what you need.

Well...
Tolerable. Stayed at much better places on the same price before. Dirty/wore-down room, water leaked from the ceiling and there was probably a rat making noise in the walls/ceiling at night.

A nice place with character
An amazing atmosphere, great location, and really wonderful staff. If you want a place with character, this is it. Also, only a few minutes walk to the Night Bazaar, for shopping and great food options. It is a bit run down with a hard bed. Overall a very good value for what I paid. I would stay here again.

Great value
Friendly and helpful staff. The lobby looks like an antique store. Great value for money, close to markets and bars.

Poopy Place to Put your Head.
When I checked into the hotel (nice staff w/a growling dog) I noticed a strong disinfectant smell but when I got into my room the smell was unbearably strong so after much difficulty I opened the window to air it out, AND my window opened up to an open air sewer 20 feet below. A river of human waste runs alongside the Tapae Hotel Inn. I went and found another hotel.

Great budget option, quirky and top location
Quirky guesthouse that also functions as a museum, full of antique retro stuff. Really great location, near shops, bars and restaurants, Worowot market and Tapae Gate. Friendly owners and staff, very cute Bulldog. Bed is hard, room is small, but it's perfect for those on a budget who want a private room in the best part of town.
