As it sounds: Cave accommodation
I was on a tour as a twin share and booked my own room separately. Despite email confirmation from the motel, they initially didn't have a room. Once a room was found, it was fine. I was offered a better room for the second night but declined because the first room was fine. The twin share room booked with the tour was very claustrophobic. 1.5metre doorway. No window. Tiny bathroom. Across the facility there was a big rang in room space and quality. Many of the tour group commented that the fridge didn't work, but we had found that to be a common problem throughout Turkey. The staff were friendly, approachable, obliging. Shops and restaurants nearby. Restaurant wine is very expensive, beer is quite cheap. Wine and beer from shops is very reasonably priced. If you are claustrophobic and booking here, request a big room with large bathroom and windows. Overall, a positive experience in a quirky hotel.

Not what we expected
We liked the location of the hotel (Urgup is stunning and less busy than Goreme) and we found a great sunrise and sunset point by climbing for 10 minutes up the cliff next to the property. The courtyard where the rooms are located is picturesque. They man who checked us did not seem happy at all. We had to ask for toilet paper three times during our stay as we were given just 1 small roll each time. We were disappointed with the rooftop - it does not look like the photos and doesn’t look safe to sit on. You will not see balloons from this rooftop like the photo suggests. The breakfast was initially disappointing, too (it was a very small buffet, unlike what the photos of the breakfast depict) but then we realised we had to ask for hot food i.e. boiled eggs or omelette and fries (typical breakfast food in Turkey) - there may have been more options but these were not communicated to us. The hot food improved the breakfast a bit but it still was not what we were expecting. You will need to download Turkish on Google translate as the staff do not speak English; this is not a problem for us however the other reviews say they were given all sorts of help and advice from the staff whereas they did not seem to want to talk to us.

Ailecek 3 gecelik konaklama için seçmiş olduğumuz bu otelde otel sahipleri Ülkü hanım Abdurrahman bey ve kızları Gökçe hanım bizi çok sıcak karşıladılar ve her konuda yardımcı oldular. Kahvaltı kontinental olmasına rağmen açık büfe kahvaltıdan misliyle daha iyi.(Sucuklu yumurtasından böreğine her şey mevcut.) Oteldeki oda geniş havadar,hijyenik ve o coğrafyaya özgü. Banyosu temiz ve küvetli. Konum olarak da her yere yakın. Gezilmesi gereken yerler hakkında da otel sahiplerinden bilgi sahibi olduk. Hiç tereddüt etmeden bir sonraki Kapadokya seyahatimde yine bu oteli tercih etmeyi düşünüyorum. Her şey için teşekkürler.

Ilk girisimizden konaklamanin sonuna kadar basta Gökçe hanim olmak uzere otel sahipleri bizimle son derece yoğun ilgilendiler. Bölgede gezilmesi gereken her yeri ayrıntılarla anlatmakla kalmayıp, yapmak istediğimiz her aktivite ile ilgilide yardımcı oldular. Ekstra isteklerimizi kırmadılar. Sabah otelin terasından balonları izlemek cok keyifli idi. Aynı terasta verdikleri kahvaltı da çok güzeldi. Kaldığımız oda geniş ve ferahtı. Tekrar kapadokyaya geldigimizde düşünmeden yeniden burda kalmak isteriz.

The hotel owners, husband and wife were exceptionally good, humble and down to earth people. They upgraded us to a suite from a standard room. Also, served us the best homemade breakfast (till date the best food we ate in Turkey).
