Vanoro was a great hotel with lovely staff, nice rooms and a wonderful restaurant. The hotel was very clean and modern and was still warm and inviting.
A couple of standouts for us was the staff assisted us in getting reservations for a table at a concert in nearby Katerini the same day we got there and they also assisted us in renting a car for a day - they had the car brought to us at the hotel and we just had to leave it outside for the car rental company to come and pick it up when we were done.
Additionally, we really enjoyed the restaurant concept - it was a buffet in that you could have as much as you liked but it was made to order for you so no stale or cold food sitting out in trays under heating lamps. In addition, you were able to partake of the breakfast menu any time, once a day. In other words, you didn't have to rush to get to the restaurant by a certain time to have breakfast.
One small downside was that we felt our bathroom was quite small, but we adjusted.
The area around the hotel was not great, it seemed dirty and had what looked like some old or closed stores and dark areas at night. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. The Vanoro was definitely the highlight of the area.
