Excellence Redefined
Our short stay (three days) at the Tivoli Doelen ticked all the boxes. The location was excellent: central and easy to reach from Amsterdam Central Station, just one stop on the Metro. All the major tourist attractions are within easy walking distance, including the museums and the Rembrandt House Museum, with scenic canal-side paths throughout the city.
Cleanliness was exceptional, and the rooms were prepared and maintained to the highest standard. The rooms had clearly been refurbished and were beautifully and tastefully decorated. There was even a British three-pin plug socket in our room! The attention to detail was second to none.
As previous reviews have mentioned, if your budget allows, I would recommend upgrading to a room overlooking the canal. It is well worth the extra cost.
Breakfast was exceptional, with a superb selection of high-quality food, all prepared to an excellent standard. If possible, try to arrive early to secure a window seat, although all the tables offer a pleasant atmosphere, with the canals taking centre stage.
If fine dining is your thing, I strongly recommend treating yourself to dinner in the restaurant one evening. The food is of the highest standard. Balance this with eating out around Amsterdam, where there is a huge variety of restaurants to choose from.
Finally, what really makes the Tivoli stand out is its staff. From the front desk team and restaurant staff to the duty manager, everyone was outstanding.
