The room was clean and comfortable. The food was very good also. The fixtures and fittings are a little dated and past their best and the staff have varying levels of service.

The room i booked was a cozy double 102..On entering the room ,the main light wouldn't switch on . I tried many times ,i even put my phone torch on to see if i had gotten the wrong switch . Eventually it can on and i could get into the room . It was a nice room with tea and coffee ,and even a bottle of water . The was in a glass bottle that i think they top up . But i didnt use it becomes

A must stay

Last minute booking due us n3eding tongo and viait family after a sudden unexpected family passing all the stagf where nothing but kind and polite and when we needed to extend our stay it was no issue at all for them to help us we opted to have the breakfast and im so glad we did aswell as the full english and continental option the also had things like omelettes, avocado on toast and the most delicious eggs florentine. The manor is stunning as is the grounds and i enjoyed googling the history!

Friendly staff, good food, just a bit haphazard in standards of service, eg cutlery available, no remote in room to operate TV, (item requested but never appeared).

do not hold an event here in cold weather

The hotel itself was good but the club meal on the Saturday evening was poor. The room was extremely cold and the food followed suit!

Excellent service, polite staff

Checking in was painless even though arrived after 6pm, lady was very polite and also served my dinner, gentleman i think is the owner and starter on photo was a nice gesture as on the house, bedroom clean, could have done with coffee bags instead of instant but of course higher cost, again another lady serving breakfast very polite along with checking out, will be staying there again when returning, pictures of my dinner as these get sent home so Mrs knows what i sm eating! thank you

8/10 Very good

Staff were all pleasant and helpful and the public areas of the hotel were comfortable and welcoming. My room was clean, quiet and the bed was large and very comfortable. My only niggles were the lack of small items such as tissues and cotton wool pads. Also, as with so many hotel rooms, there wasn’t a mirror with decent lighting for applying makeup. I take my own illuminating mirror with me on my travels because this is almost always the case.

8/10 Very good

I just stayed with my 16yr old daughter overnight for the uni Open Day. It was a nice hotel in an old building with a well kept garden. Room was comfy and clean with nice features like a window seat, newly decorated bathroom. It had a lovely sash window but peeling paintwork on the outside window sill made it look more shabby than it needed to. A few things in service could be better to be 4 star. We arrived late evening 9.30pm and had said what train we’d be on. Reception was empty when we arrived with a notice to ring a mobile number if you needed anything. We rang it and the phone was at the desk. Check in was fine and we were told where breakfast was but nothing else. Eg that the lounge had drinks etc. Breakfast was very good and the staff were lovely but no-one there for a while to check you in but clear you had to as there was a list as you came in. It took a while to come and take our order for hot breakfast including coffee. So there were just a few little touches that I would’ve expected if it’s going to call itself ‘luxury’ 4 star. But we still had a very comfy stay and would stag again.

Nice, but needs a dust.

The hotel is set in a lovely quiet place. Loads of parking and only a few steps from the front door. I was a little miffed at having to walk through the cigarette smoke of 2 staff members smoking at the front door, to then be recieved by an unstaffed reception. Check in was quick and the receptionist was very polite and professional. The room was tidy and light, however, it was thick with dust. There were 2 small toiletries in the bathroom which were not adequate for the 2 of us. On the plus side the food is awesome, although I did have to ask for the free bottle of wine that came with the meal as it was not offered.

2/10 Poor

Bad room

Room very small just about see in the room next to no light window would not shut properly blinds on window broken could not open shower goes all over the tiny little bathroom lucky not 6 foot tall as would not be able to stand up in most of the room

4/10 Fair

Rather chaotic booking/ payment experience

Rather disorganised at reception with several guests overcharged for services and or rooms purchased elsewhere. Not sure how to do refunds via the visa machine so will be interested to see what happens. Carpets on landings and bedroom we were in heavily stained although everything else clean enough. Nice enough stay for a wedding but spilt a bit by the lack of coordination and poor experience

First visit

First time staying here, but would definitely stay again. I chose 61 due to the good reviews on Hotels.com. Wonderful quiet location. The staff are so friendly, helpful and polite. I ate in the restaurant, slow roasted beef. Good sized portion and well cooked. Reasonably priced too. The room, 202, was just right for someone travelling alone. The WiFi connection and quality was easy and an acceptable speed The bathroom was clean and tidy. The toilet has a soft close lid so no lids crashing down if you forget to close it when you get up at stupid or clock for a wee. The matteress was very comfortable, some hotels skimp on a decent matteress. 61 spent well on the quality of the mattress. The pillows were ok too. A couple of small disappointments were the hot water tap provided very cold water, though the shower was very warm? The room was a bit cold, however, I can understand the hotel being prudent with their heating costs. Would I stay again? YES

Disappointed

Drink options were good, always very sparse on staff vey often no one on reception, no telephone in bedrooms food was excellent compliments to the chef booked a deluxe room but was very basic no mirror over the table which was supposed to be dressing table
Jacqueline, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Stay spoilt by noisy occupants in room next door.

We did not really enjoy our stay, our room was small and poly and tired looking. Bathroom was clearly new and very nice. Unfortunately we had a very noisy family in the room next door which spoilt our one night stay . On the positive side , food very good and staff excellent.

It seemed very luxurious, yet we were welcomed hartily although we were sweaty after a day of cycling.

4/10 Fair

Property is in a tranquil location and has a lovely lounge but generally in need of a bit of TLC. Room, 103, was quite small with little space to put our luggage but clean and tidy. Shower cubicle so small it’s comical and we’re not big people. Problem with screeching water pipes kept us up at night, reception informed us that they knew and plumber fixing on Monday. Breakfast OK. Staff all welcoming.
