Close to a Hallmark like get-a-way
This was an amazing night stopover during a more extended family vacation in the Smokies. The lodge's room was spotless and comfortable, with a view of the Applichatian hills. The staff was kind, outgoing, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. My wife and I's only setback was the breakfast. We had high expectations for a unique meal. Placing a tab on the website with the different menus for each day and season would be beneficial. We did not see any menus online or accessible through the website, so we hoped the meal would be more unique than a small generic offering. Even then, the meal was lukewarm at best when it was served. The State Park was beautiful, and the visit was definitely worth it. If the lodge and park incorporate a more decorative theme throughout the whole park, this could be a picture-perfect Hallmark-like get-a-way. The State Park could capitalize on it during the so-called "off-season."

Nice lodge, great state park
Beautiful location with a friendly staff. The views are great and it’s right by the top of the falls. Each floor has an area with tables set up and puzzles out. That was nice to sit and work on a puzzle with a view when it was raining. The restaurant could use some improvement - food is standard buffet items, so ok but not great. The waitstaff can’t seem to multi task very well. The rooms are your average hotel room - a big soaker tub would be a nice addition if they ever do upgrades. Our bed was comfy and we had everything we needed. The outdoor area has a lovely fire pit and lots of sitting areas where you can relax and watch the sunset behind the mountains.

Nice quiet place
Beautiful view from the room! A muffin or something small to eat for breakfast (complimentary) would be nice along with maybe coffee in lobby.

Lovely overnight stay
My husband and I had a lovely stay at the lodge. We were welcomed and checked in quickly. Our room was clean and smelled nice. We didn’t get to try all of the food in the buffet because they ran out of certain dishes before we got there. However, the food was good. Overall, we had a good time.

incomparable views and value
The views in the common areas and in the rooms were outstanding. The property takes advantage of the views and makes access easy for all. The outdoor area has many chairs, and the patio has fireplaces/firepits to stay warm as you enjoy it all.

The stay
It was good for the price. Definitely could use maintenance. The view was pretty. The AC was loud and the bed was very hard and made noise.

The lodge has the most amazing views! The hotel is a bit older, so it could use some updates (especially removing the carpet from the rooms). The staff was wonderful and super helpful, but the service was a bit slow at the bar and restaurant.
