2/10 Poor

Check in staff was rude. Showed me a piece of paper in English (was instructions to check out) and asked me to “check it”. He wouldn’t allow me to read it on the spot and asked me to move away from the counter. It wasn’t even busy at the time. There’s mold in the air vents at the reception. I hope they clean it cause it can be dangerous to anyone’s health who is exposed to it

I’d try somewhere else
Overall, I wouldn’t stay again for many reasons nor would I suggest booking here. The number one reason was the staff was actively not helpful, rude at points, unprofessional in the Onsen, etc. I stayed at 12 hotels in Japan this trip and I did not experience that at other hotels. Quite the opposite, at the other hotels the staff were so welcoming and friendly and made sure we had a great experience. Also, finding it and parking were a disaster, so I called the hotel asking for assistance and they just hung up on me. When I finally found it on my own, they told me I could just park wherever in public parking many blocks away. It was extremely frustrating and difficult to navigate and again not a good experience as I’d had other places. The room was clean, it’s outdated and probably a little over priced, but all and all the room was fine, nothing crazy either way.

Location was good. Facility isn’t like hotel. More like mansion style. Bath room was bit small. Dinner was decent. But hoped for more traditional Japanese Onsen style dinner. Breakfast buffet was ok. But not much variety .

Decent Onsen, Poor Breakfast
The best thing about this hotel is the Onsen. The breakfast is very poor and the staff are very unhelpful at times - in particular the breakfast staff. Each day we went for breakfast quite early and yet they had run out of decent provisions...

Last Resort!
We booked this as a last resort, with everything else in Atami full for the night. And it really should be a last resort. Grubby, tatty and old, everything about this hotel premises is dreadful. 30 minute queue for breakfast, shredded curtains, worn-out tatami dubious bed linen...avoid.

In a good location but the hotel is very dated. Cruise ship style bathroom. Need to know the hotel Japanese name if wanted to catch the hotel shuttle from station to hotel. For it only show Japanese name.

An excellent choice for a weekend escape
That hotel is really nice. Friendly staff (they speak english), excellent food, great location, nice view. They make anything possible so you will feel embraced and comfortable. I tried 1 hr massage session and that was fantastic, even better than in Indonesia. The onsen is just great, it's an indoor one with two pools, very clean and discret. The japanese food restaurant, it was awesome! Delicious! The waitresses are nothing but the prettiest I have seen all over Japan! They arrange your weekend in such a good way you won't waste your time. I didn't find it pricy at all. I would recommend this hotel and I would come back many times.

An onsen hotel where you cannot use onsen
Too bad this would have been a great Onsen (hot spring bath) hotel if it were not for a single dreadful problem (at least for me). Atami is a well-known onsen town, and people who come to this town look forward to sea food and onsen. Well, when I arrived at the hotel and went to the main male bath room, I found one female employee, middle-aged woman in jerseys, is stationed at the entry. And soon I noticed that this woman freely walks around the dressing area (where you disrobe) and even in the large bathroom itself. Some locals do not seem to mind, but for mw, a Japanese native who has lived in the US for more than half of his life, just cannot accept letting a stranger woman in the same room where I am naked. So I left the bath room, luckily still clothed, went back to my room, and took a bath in a tiny bath tab. And next morning, when I checked in the main bathroom again, I found the same woman still walking around and "serving" male customers. What's the point of coming to an onsen hotel where you are forced to use a super-small bath tub in the room? Otherwise, the hotel is ideally located right on the ocean front with a great view from the room, and food was good and other employees were very friendly. When I complained about that female employee at the front desk, the clerk seemed very surprised. Maybe she was not an employee? But all the same, you cannot use onsen at an onsen hotel. I will NOT recommend this place to any of my friends.
