2/10 Poor

Not ready - no advance notice
We arrived to check-in after receiving a confirmation text and instructions for getting into the room (contactless check-in). The keypad was broken, and we spent some time trying to figure it out, but finally messaged our host. They said they knew it was broken and would be fixed in about an hour. Offered a refund at least! We had tickets and a reservation for activities in FB, but had to scramble to find another place to stay. New place was cheaper and nicer so I guess it worked out.

8/10 Very good

We stayed in the lighthouse/room 5 over Thanksgiving. The location is super convenient and close to town. Arrival is easy. Room was clean when we arrived. However, it has a really strong, bad smell, like moth balls. We tried to air it out and open windows, but it was cold at night, so not totally feasible. Family in other rooms didn't have the same smell issue. Great that we could bring our dogs. Would have given 5 stars if not for the smell.

Older property well maintained. We were there to sleep and back on the road. Fort Bragg had a lot to offer to see the amazing shoreline.

Very Disappointing!
Beware! Online photos do not represent reality! The first disappointment was the state of the property. Deep potholes smattering the entry, a bank of unsightly refuge bins at the entry, a field of waist high weedy grasses adjoining an unkempt common social area that itself was weedy and held two suspicious BBQs and an unappealing and filthy firepit that no one in their right mind woud fire-up. The so called "park" in the center of the complex was another field of low growing weeds and potholes and was furnished with about a half dozen picnic tables, two of which were scattered with rocks and dirt and leaves. Some people chose to not pick up after their dogs in this area. The entirity of the landscaping was crowded with weeds and in need of some TLC. As for my "individually decorated" Roses and Ivy Cottage: the cute comforter on the website turned into a dull beige duvet that looked dirty but probably wasn't, there were 4 wall hanging hooks with nothing hanging on them, the whole place smelled of "old wet house" (thank goodness for the ceiling fan), doors and cabinets stuck and peeled due to improperly painted interiors, and the "stainless" kitchen sink area was pitted and blotched with staining. The few positives: the bed and 6 pillows provided were very comfortable, the little wall fireplace/heater was a pleasant surprise, the tiny bathroom was okay for a one person use, road noise was minimal with the windows closed, and, best of all was Maria, the stellar housekeeper.

Cute room - full size frig & coffee pot is a plus! The kitchen is fully stocked w/ glassware, dishes etc. room is well appointed, cute decor, but my porch light didn’t work, and I couldn’t figure out how to turn hot tub on. but it was a nice clean and comfortable stay. & covered parking is great. I would return.

No one is on the property to help out. They initially sent the wrong code to get into the room and there was no response at first to our call. They got back to us fairly quickly, but it was not a good start to our stay. Gas fireplace was supposed to be a feature of the room, but it didn't work with either the remote or the switch. This also meant there was no heat in the room. The bed is ridiculously high--older people would have a hard time getting in and out of it. And the ceiling fan is ridiculously low--kids on the bed could easily reach it and I was able to grab the blades standing on the floor. Seems like a liability. And, "Please Remove Your Shoes" on the front door? This is really annoying. I'm a paying customer, not a guest in your home. I'll remove my shoes when I damn well feel like it. Finally, I just think it's a bad idea to try to run a place with no staff on the premises. At least have someone on site for a few hours around check-in time. Their text says housekeeping staff is there until around 3 pm. If you need something or there's a problem with the room, you're supposed to let someone know before 3. Guess when check-in time is? 3. This doesn't add up.

The location is good and the room was good with a carport to park in. It was quiet other than a little noise from the highway occasionally. The room was clean. The bed was TERRIBLE! The mattress was completely worn out and should have been replaced long ago. The provided shampoo, conditioner and body wash were in mason jars with pumps on them which we did not trust as you could just unscrew the tops and put whatever you wanted in them which didnt seem good as anyone could have contaminated them, so we went and bought travel size containers for ourselves. The shower has very low water pressure and there seemed to be a very small water heater because the hot water ran out about 5 minutes into a shower. All in all it was a good place that could have been great. Ill probably go back if they replace the beds.

Good host communication. For us with a large truck and cottage #1 we had good parking. This cottage did everything we asked of it. Good bed, clean bathroom, hot shower, and full kitchen. We will definitely stay again while in the Fort Bragg area.

The staff at this property were so nice. This is hard to find in todays society. It was so close to everything, and they made sure you knew what is the area if you wanted to explore. The property is well kept and the cottages are adorable. I will definitely stay here again. They even gave my dog a little dog basket full of stuff for his comfort. Amazing!

Cutest little cottages. Shoreline is a bit misleading. More like highwayline. Comfortable and unique. Ceiling fan started squealing at midnight. Woke us up and turning it off made the unairconditioned room a bit warm. Overall nice, but remember you get what you expect.
