Good choice

Traditional old pub in fine location with authentic interior and great garden bar. Welcomed by friendly young man who was helpful throughout our stay. Great breakfast with good choice.

A little gem

So pleased I found this little gem. Lovely team of people, so cheerful, friendly, hardy, and welcoming, they obviously loved their jobs. My room felt fresh, was tastefully decorated, with a spacious en-suite, super comfortable king sized bed, and stable doors that opened out to a couple of steps down to my own terrace area. I wish I was staying longer.

Overnight stay

Very pleasant, friendly pub with good food. Room comfortable, but decor a little tired.

Lovely cosy pub.

Excellent pub with super comfy beds and great food. Breakfast was beautifully cooked with lovely locally smoked kippers. Evening meal was also superb. Staff all very accommodating and very friendly. Excellent Adnams ale. Don't pay to park opposite as you will be given a resident voucher to park for free by the landlord. Only minor downside was that there was a bath rather than a shower. I would definitely stay there again.

Not the best place we've stayed at

Good breakfast, but wasn't happy with the accommodation or access to the room. Not anticipating a return visit.

6/10 Good

The jolly sailor is a quirky building,, but nice I'm 75 and found the inside steps from the street and the staircase very challenging. If you are a little infirm choose somewhere else
Grahame, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Rooms above a pub in a very old building, so it has uneven floor surfaces, low beamed ceilings etc. For anyone who loves this feeling of ancient mellowed beauty, this is a real treat, full of atmosphere and very lovely. Twenty steps from the little harbour, quiet and a balm for the soul. Breakfast on the simple side, but perfectly good.

A PUB OF 2 HALVES (not as advertised)

Lovely old pub, chosen as a 75th birthday stay after river cruise.. no broadside on tap, broadside bottles were out of date … (broadside on pump is birthday boy’s favourite) ..“landlady” rather abrupt.. no meals being served, kitchen closed … that said, room was fab, spacious and clean .. bed and bedding really nice… 5 🌟 given for sleep and a wonderful breakfast & breakfast gentleman was a star & very courteous.
Fab breakfast
