We were at the DoubleTree during the week of Christmas, so we understood and were forgiving that there were fewer staff than normal. That said, this was a pretty frustrating experience for us and we expected more from the DoubleTree brand. A few examples:
* The room didn't have a luggage rack/stand. How?!
* We had one roll of toilet paper, and when it ran out, it took 2 hours to get another from the staff.
* We asked for two extra pillows three different times in the first 48 hours of our four-day stay. Each time, we were assured that they would be delivered momentarily. They weren't until we called a fourth time.
* We had two packets of coffee on day 1, and we were told on day 2 that the hotel was completely out of coffee packets. On day 3, we were told the same again -- only to have housekeeping deliver us more when they (finally) brought the extra pillows.
These are minor things, but they suggest an inattention to detail that is not in keeping with the brand standards I've come to expect. I doubt we'll stay at this location again, even though it's the most conveniently located hotel to our parents' house in Tulsa.
One bright spot: The maintenance man, Joe, was a LIFESAVER by helping us lower the temperature in our room. The thermostats only go down to 68 degrees unless you override them, and the override only lasts for 72 hours. For those who like to sleep in a cold room, ask for Joe.
