Find out more about Boracay Island

Boracay Island Hotels

This unspoiled island of the Philippines is a coveted vacation spot for enthusiastic scuba divers, and all across Boracay Island you'll find sandy white beaches and clear blue seas that are just waiting for you to dive in. Just off the coast there are coral reefs with exotic fish hiding in-between them, and you may even spot a sting ray or sea turtle gliding along just under the water. The island is also home to many luxurious resorts, and here you can truly escape from the stresses of the modern world and enjoy being pampered.

Things to see

Puka Beach in the north of Boracay Island feels private and isolated thanks to the dense forest of thick green trees that surround it. Here you'll find long stretches of golden sand and clear blue seas, perfect for snorkeling and discovering playful fish darting amongst the coral reefs. It's also a great spot to pick up shells, and collectors will be delighted by the huge, colorful specimens that can be found hiding just under the sand. Crocodile Island is just a 15 minute boat ride from Boracay, and offers some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the Philippines. Luckily, the island is named for its shape and not because there are any crocs hiding in the water, but you can enjoy the peaceful stretches of clear ocean full of exotic sea creatures. The island itself also has a few restaurants as well as a sandy beach that feels nice and isolated from the crowds. Willy's Rock is a unique islet that is just off the Boracay coast, and you can wade out to it even at high tide, climb up the rock, and see the Virgin Mary shrine that has been built there, surrounded by colorful flowers and candles.

Many visitors enjoy staying in the locally owned, budget accommodation, and you'll find colorful guesthouses and resorts close to the beaches. You can enjoy plenty of hotel facilities, and these can include restaurants, bars, WiFi, conference rooms, onsite parking, outdoor pools, and barbecue grills. Some hotels also offer services to help make your vacation fun, such as ticket and tour assistance, bike hire, and snorkeling lessons. Rooms are comfortable and bright, perfect for those on vacation, and you'll enjoy amenities such as air conditioning, private bathrooms, satellite television channels, and daily housekeeping.

Where to stay

Yapak has many unspoiled, isolated beaches, and you'll find serene and natural hotel resorts in the area. Much of Yapak is hilly and covered in a dense green forest, with white sandy beaches hidden away in coves. It's also a popular spot for scuba diving, and you'll find a wide variety of schools along the beachfronts, all offering you the chance to visit some of the Philippines' most impressive diving spots. Manoc-Manoc is a popular arrival spot where many of the ferries come in, and it's a slightly livelier area of the island in the south. Along the beaches you'll find lots of small bars and stalls selling souvenirs, and it's also a good spot if you want to hire a boat and take to the sea for the day with friends.

How to get to Boracay Island

Godofredo P. Ramos Airport in Caticlan is sometimes referred to as Boracay Airport. Although it's not on the island itself it is the closest airport geographically and has regular flights to and from Manila which take about an hour. From the airport you can then take a short ride by motorized tricycle to the boat jetty. This is a classic mode of transport in the Philippines, and the driver will be able to help you with your luggage. It's then simply a 15-20 minute ferry crossing to Boracay, and you'll arrive either at Cagban Port in the peak season or Tambisaan Port in the off-peak vacation months.
