Rhodes Hotels

Rhodes is a small sun-dappled Eden set in the glistening turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. This green-swept island boasts year-round warm temperatures, which complements its vast sweeping beaches, forest-laden mountains and white-stone towns. Rhodes’ small local population resides in the main city - also named Rhodes - which buzzes with traditional Grecian culture, from the sugary Takakia dessert to the hypnotic live lyre music. The island’s countryside is littered with small villages which boast remarkable ancient ruins.

Things to see

Rhode’s magical history dates back to ancient times, and the evidence of this is clear in its dozens of epic ruins. Visit the white-stoned Acropolis of Rhodes, an ancient Greek ruin surrounded by vast swathes of deep green trees. A section of colonnades from the mystical Temple of Apollo still stand, and tower above the ancient theatre and smooth-stepped stadium. After, visit Rhodes’ Old Town, a Medieval area surrounded by war-battered fortress walls - still lined with cannons - and a collection of grand, highly-ornamented gates. Take a trip to the small forest-laden village of Kritinia, where a copper-coloured Venetian-inspired castle towers over the village’s narrow streets, themselves lined with traditional market stalls selling fresh colourful fruit and vegetables. Before the sun sets, make sure to visit the bright white houses of Lindos, and take a dip in the warm emerald waters of St Paul’s Bay.

How to get to Rhodes

Rhodes is accessible either by sea or by air. If arriving by plane, gently descend through the crystal-clear Mediterranean skies into Diagoras Airport - a medium-sized airport that offers year-round international flights throughout Europe. From there, shuttle buses or friendly cabs will whiz you the short 9 miles to the city of Rhodes, and the surrounding towns and villages. Arrive to central Rhodes in style by gliding across the calm, pristine ocean waters by ferry, which you can catch from several ports in mainland Greece. Once in Rhodes, renting a car is an ideal way to explore the island.
