Great onsen (hot spring) ryokan (traditional Japanese style hotel) but not much around. They run some ride service, but you should be prepared to use the taxi, rental car, or bicycle to go anywhere. If you like quiet, it sure is.
Hot bath was not too hot, dinner (need reservation) and breakfast was both authentic traditional local Japanese food and was amazing.

a relaxing family vacation at the hotel
This three-star hotel is situated by the sea. The sea view is nice, but as the hotel is facing North, we are not able to see the sunrise. The open-air onsen operates with private sessions during the afternoon. The meals are average.

Nice quiet and tasteful hotel near beach.
The atmosphere and food was great. The staff members were polite and helpful. The room was comfortable with a lovely sea view. The only shame is there is no wifi in the room. There are complimentary shuttle bus services to the nearest station and to the famous hot sand spa, which we really enjoyed.

my stay in Ibusuki
close to the train station, call the hotel and the staff will pick you up within a few minutes. food quality is below expectation. free shuttle to sand bath but it's disappointed that there is no free shuttle to the island where you can walk across when there is low tide.

Beautiful and comfortable Ryokan / Onsen
Koran No Yu Kinkouroh was a a great ryokan onsen located in the the southern part of Kagoshima. Although it was a little bit of a drive from the black sand beach we had a free shuttle ride to an from the train station and the black sand onsen that made the trip easier. It has a very traditional atmosphere and both the room and outer and inner onsen were adequate since there were no other guests that used it at the time we were there. I traveled with other family members who had their first experience at a ryokan and they were highly impressed. The food was very traditional and great as well. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We visited during the rainy season and it was raining a bit, but the stay was still very enjoyable and highly recommended. Based on my experiences at other ryokan/onsen in Tokyo and Kobe, the prices were very affordable and seemed well worth the long trip to the southern part of Japan. Our room also had a beautiful ocean view.

New hotel, will come back!
Hotel feels very comfortable, nice and new. All staff members were nice and helpful, some speak very good English. The outdoor onsen was nice and small, it can be made private at certain times. Onsen skincare and amaneities are of good quality but felt that they could add more varieties. Meals are nice. Place is close to all sight seeing spots if u r driving.
