Though right opposite the train station, note that the downtown area is a 15-minute walk. Room small but clean - fair for the price paid. Standard Toyoko Inn service, self-service check-in and check-out. Just one lift - expect some wait time during breakfast / check-out hours.

Good quality hotel. Spotless and convenient, right across the station JR Abashiri.
The buses to the main attractions in town don’t ride too often. Taxis are an option.

It’s an inn so we had very low expectations and was not surprised by the smallness of the room or the lack of wardrobe space. The morning breakfast was the worst we hv encountered so far on this trip. The bread was dry and the granola was so sugary it was like eating dessert. The egg omelette was tasteless. Looked pretty but far from tasty.

Staff was great, but our floor was definitely a smoking floor. If we had been staying more than 1 night, we would have requested a change. But it was late and we were tired. Just assumed that all hotels were non-smoking in Japan now. Caveat Emptor ... Always ask when booking.

A convenient business hotel.
It surprised me that there was no public bath and sauna.
Breakfast choices were limited.

The room was clean and decently sized with amenities available in the lobby if you need to. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Parking is complimentary in a movable platform where you are given a card by the parking attendant after you park. There is a traditional Japanese style breakfast and it was tasty. There is a big flaw in the hotel though. There are 11 floors with only one elevator for all the guest. This means you may have to wait a while for the elevator to take you up and down. During peak hours, the wait for the elevator is pretty long and you may have to wait more than 1 round for your turn since it may be already full from the other guests.
