Overall it was a very nice hotel, the only negative experience is that you had to wait for golfcarts to drive you from hotel lobby to your actual room

decent hotel close to the beach
the hotel itself wasn't bad, a little misleading from the pictures posted on expedia. the room was nice and updated and the pools were very nice and clean. the hotel staff was good for the most part though a few seemed rude. the only food that was good was the hibachi everything else was low grade buffett food. me and my wife got sick from the food during our stay. if your going to stay here I do recommend getting the all inclusive package otherwise the food and drinks are very overpriced.

Ten Years Later!
The hotel is nice, although not as nice as it was 10 years ago, when we first visited St. Thomas. The steps leading to the beach have not been renovated - they are uneven and splintered; the beach is not kept very clean and contains a lot of rocks.
The food is exceptionally high, for what is served; Food preparation at the grill by the beach is unsanitary. Birds can perch above open slats where cooked food is kept, and the birds are free to fly onto the porch of the restaurant where guests eat. The restaurant that serves breakfast does nothing to prevent flies from landing on the bread and pastries.
Overall, I was sadly disappointed.

Great week in paradise
We had a wonderful week here. Staff was wonderful. Food was good. Weather perfect. Expensive island but we expected that. Beaches were gorgeous, this beach had great snorkeling. So much wildlife at this resort. Iguanas and beautiful birds. Fantastic pool. Only ONE complaint.... roosters start going nuts at the crack of dawn so if you like to sleep in beware. Other than that we had a vacation we will never forget. Loved it.

Terrible Hotel!!
DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT! I certainly will never come to this resort ever again!
The service is terribly rude (with a few exceptions)
The food...a huge disappointment. No options...when paying for all inclusive you expect to have some options but they only had one restaurant open. Breakfast was inconsistent in quality and cold. Dinner was terrible.
Vomit floating in the pool...no joke! Seriously...no joke! And when we alerted a staff member I am assuming nothing was done since people were still swimming in the pool.
Ants in our room, the ceiling fan - could not turn on due to the amount of dust on the fan. The rooms get stuffy and hot even with the air conditioner on full blast so the ceiling fan would have been helpful.
Power goes out every single day ...and at night while we are sleeping!
Rocky beach - please note that you will not see a smooth sandy beach - don't let the resorts Marketing on FB fool you. The beach is very small as well.
The beach chair cushions are beyond disgusting!
The beach itself...talk about trash dump! Cigarettes, food, dirty cups everywhere in the sand and left all over the pool area. Employees would walk by and leave dirty cups laying around.
DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!
Upon check out they asked how our stay was and we said honestly the resort could use some attention...the front desks response "Awesome". Huh?
My opinion...go to Little Divi in St Martin or Windjammer Landing Resort in St Lucia both 5 plus star resorts!!!

The View vs. The Vacation
While the hotel offered amazing views and provided fabulous customer service, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of activities and with the dullness and lack of festivities.

Nice resort
The staff is very friendly and the grounds are beautiful and well kept. I did not do all inclusive (room only), but there was enough to do in the area and I could still take part in the activities at the resort.

Clean but not impressive
I had been to Sugar Bay about 10 years ago with my kids and wanted to take my daughter back because she was to young to remember. We had problems with the wrist band key to the room as soon as we checked in, after the 4th time in 24 hours we were moved to a better room. Rooms were clean but just OK. It's a decent place for families with the pools, beach and water activities, but it you are looking for luxury and adult fun this is not the place.

Sugar bay just ok, no return for me
Hotel is on a mountain so it's difficult to get around with luggage and some rooms are not near an elevator. Some staff do not accommodate to kids & staff did not clean the rooms well at all. Location of hotel is good taxi ride to different locations was ok but taxis charge for every person and every bag. Food at hotel was not worth all inclusive and not even worth paying cash. Breakfast was ok but chef has tip basket which we thought was unnecessary. Hotel not really kids friendly

Not quite up the my expectations.
THE ROOM: I paid for an ocean view. The first room that they gave to us (Room 437) looked over the water as long as you got past the rooftop of the building that is right in front of our balcony. The room has a musty smell mixed with disinfectant. The desk was all beat up and there was no chair to sit at the desk. The bed felt quite old and uncomfortable. I complained and after letting them know my that I was not happy in Room 437, they switched us to Room 135. Room 135 was very nice and a beautiful view. ELEVATORS: At least 2 elevators were broken the entire time of our stay.
FOOD: Mediocre at best. But then again, just about every restaurant on St. Thomas is at the same level. We found a good one call XO located at Red Hook. We went to Red Hook for pizza but the pizza place was closed.
INTERNET: Website stated FREE INTERNET. You cannot get internet in your room.. There are two computer in the internet room and one printer for boarding passes.
Most rooms are very far from the front desk. This place is very large.
POOL: To go to the pool, you pretty much have take a ride down on a gulf cart unless you are into long walks up and down steep hills. The pool itself is very nice and is right at the ocean. You are allowed one towel per person.
CAUTION: DON'T PURCHASE PASSES TO AND FROM AIRPORT IN ADVANCE, WHICH RAN US $110.00. TAXI RIDES ARE $11/EACH TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT FROM THIS RESORT.

Honeymoon trip
It was a great experience, very attentive staff, smiling and helping the customer at all times.
I had originally booked a mountain view king size room and was kindly offered the ocean view room. Front desk asking after you check in if everything is fine with the room and also checking on the night before check out.
Special thanks to David and Vicki from front desk.

Unsanitary facilities. Run!
Never book here. We got into bed our first night, only to discover a blood stain, the size of a silver dollar, near the pillow. We looked further and it was on the comforter, through the sheet and through to the mattress pad! It was disgusting. Either the sheets were never changed or the housekeeper bled all over and didn't notice? Really? They changed the sheet but had no comforters, son just handed us blankets. Who does this? This is an unsanitary practice! My husband touched it, we all know where that can lead. I am still having nightmares.

Good food
The food was tasty and consistent. There were a lot of events and activities available for guests. The hotel staff is slow to respond. I got locked out of my room twice and desk clerks never apologized or provided any explanation. Plus, I had to walk down the lobby for service because staff NEVER answered the phone.
