"Nice stay, beds were comfy and it’s only a 10 minute walk from the station. The only thing we had an issue with was when we checked in the receptionist loudly announced our room number so it was heard by other guests. As two young women, it’s not safe for others to know our room number so we would appreciate if staff were trained to not do this."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Reading

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Reading is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a great value for money experience, it is recommended to stay for at least 2 to 3 days to fully explore the city's significant landmarks and cultural attractions. During your visit, you can enjoy the picturesque river, attend local festivals, discover historical ruins, admire charming churches, and stroll through historical sites and natural parks, all while encountering the friendly locals. This itinerary offers a wonderful way to experience Reading's rich history and vibrant culture without breaking the bank.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals in Reading, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. It's also wise to enable email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on flash sales and special promotions, helping you seize opportunities to save. The Smart Shopping feature in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're informed about price drops or availability changes. With these tools, you're more likely to secure a great last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in a hotel in Reading. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels may provide a more personalised touch and occasionally better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below average. If the price is on the higher side, we can suggest more affordable dates, increasing the likelihood that you’ll find a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Reading's superb public transport connections, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well linked. For those eager to investigate alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
