This is a modern hotel with an interesting selection of artefacts and antiques scattered around the spacious cool marble spaces. Its very clean and well maintained. Breakfast from 8am to 11am is perfect timing for me as I like to take things slowly in the morning. Lots of choice at breakfast, all the standards - fruit, cereals , eggs cooked to order. Pool area was usually quite quiet when we stayed in mid-May.

It's a lovely modern hotel. Rooms are fabulous and the property has a rooftop infinity pool with plenty of loungers. The property has a really nice spa with an indoor pool that you pay to use.
Food is good and reasonably priced. The property overlooks the river Arade with really nice views of Portimao Marina to the left and Tivoli Marina to the right and the fishing village of Ferragudo straight ahead.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was really spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. Great shower, comfortable bed, and refrigerator in room, plus a kettle for heating water, and supplies to make tea or espresso. The breakfast was great, the best we have had in our 7 weeks in Europe. Staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful, cool, and peaceful.

Went to Salema with partner and 3 kids, 15,9 and 8. Villas were of a particularly high standard. Spotless clean and with all the mod cons. Pool was lovely and never packed despite the size of the complex. Salema itself is very small with not much in it but it's a nice change from the surrounding large resorts. It has a fabulous fish restaurant on the beach and a pretty good pizzareia. Had a very relaxing holiday here. Would recommend it and I would go back. Super resort.

Once again, the best experience in Hotel Vila Gale- the staff go out of their way to make sure that everything is to the highest standard. I never leave reviews but feel this hotel is deserving of one.

Really nice hotel, spotlessly clean, only thing that lets it down is the pool is shaded from around 3 in the afternoon. Food is really nice and staff are friendly.

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Portimão
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Portimão is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. You can enjoy a range of experiences including the picturesque marina, historical sites, and family-friendly beaches, all while taking advantage of great value for money. With prices potentially dropping in these months, it’s a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Portimão.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Portimão, visit the Dealsopens in new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates on accommodations close to your travel dates. To maximise your chances of savings, consider enabling email alerts or push notifications for flash sales and special promotions. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, helping you make informed choices. If prices drop or rooms become available, you could be among the first to know, making it easier to secure a last-minute getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could allow you to save on your stay in a Portimão hotel. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may occasionally offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, increasing your chances of securing the best deal.
Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but with Portimão's excellent public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a little further out that remains well linked. For those eager to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative locations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
