8/10 Good
"Positives: Parking was fine. Garage and car wash next door was cheap. Great local pub in Boughton up the road for excellent other food options if willing to have few mins drive. Negatives: Got placed into a disabled room and the shower curtain was not sufficient to prevent a spill running around the walls yo the doorway. The room fan - although a good power was noisy. (Thought, the rooms had air con but it was only the communal area - my mistake :(. Poor strength Wifi in my room and kept having to log back in."

Cathedral Gate Hotel

Cathedral Gate Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"First of all, can't beat the location of this boutique hotel. It's right next to the cathedral gate and of course a minute walk to the cathedral. It's centrally located around shops and restaurants. We only stayed 1 night at the property, but we had the best experience. The hotel staff was wonderful and very accommodating. We were able to check in right away and the rooms were ready when we checked in at noon. They were very helpful and made sure that all our needs were met. One of our friends left his phone in the reception area, and their staff chased us all the way down the street to give his cellphone, helped us booked a taxi reservation, and provided all sorts of recommendations. Our stay also came with a simple continental breakfast which is a plus. I would recommend this hotel and will stay again when we come back to Canterbury."

During your visit, you can explore remarkable landmarks such as the stunning cathedral, historical monuments, and various museums. Don't miss the charming churches and vibrant cafés that showcase the friendliness of the locals. This trip promises great value for money, allowing you to immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of Canterbury without breaking the bank.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Canterbury, begin by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Additionally, activating email alerts or push notifications can help you stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don't miss potential savings. With Smart Shopping, an available comparison tool via the app, you could find it easier to compare hotel prices and amenities. You'll be updated if rooms become available or prices drop, allowing for timely bookings for your spontaneous getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on various factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you potentially save on your stay in a Canterbury hotel. For those in search of something distinctive, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you find the best deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but thanks to Canterbury's outstanding public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative locations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
