Old fashioned in need of an overhaul. Room was clean and utilitarian.
Decent hotel very conveniently located next to the station. Big clean rooms with working amenities. A bit of a vintage atmosphere. Somewhere between business and luxury
I stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. The room was bigger than expected (in Europe), and very modern. The staff was amazing! The front dest staff printed directions to a place that my GPS couldn't find, and when the restaurant was packed for dinner (it happened to be Valentine's day, I was alone and didn't think to book a reservation), the man at the front kept calling until he found me a spot! I didn't even ask him to do that. The breakfast was really good! The eggs were amazing! There was so much to pick from! The options were endless. The parking can be tricky because the hotel only has about 30 or so spots in the front. If it's full, you have to look for street parking. Fortunately, even with a massive art fair in town, I always managed to find a spot there! The shower in my room kept rapidly changing the temperature of the water, which was kind of annoying. The hotel is beautiful except for the hanging lights on the stairwells. They look like they are from 1940s and stand out terribly. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again! I love this hotel.
A bit like stepping back in time, a time when service was conducted with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. What a wonderful breakfast. A vast array of fresh and tasty food, every table with it’s very own coffee pot - what more would you ask for. Thank you Schloss Hotel Karlsruhe.
I was not at all happy staying at Schlosshotel Karlsruhe. - Internet provided is 1Mbps, which is not sufficiently fast for anything in 2019. - The gym provided is a disgrace; they are providing 3(!) machines that look like they are from the 1980s, one of them is even out of order. - Breakfast is about the worse in got in a 4* hotel for a long time. Not visiting again when I'll be back in Karlsruhe
Nice decor and bed. The hotel location was very across from the train station and walking distance to all attractions amand restaurants. Seems like they had very limited staff.
Good location for a stop over. Upon arrival, reception staff member was on the phone - this took a while- with no recognition and the queue built. The room was good- but the air-con was leaking with a constant drip, soaking the carpet. Upon reporting this, the staff member wasn’t interested. Had drinks at the bar, service ok, but then had to find a staff member to pay. Mixed bag overall.
This was our third stay and have always found the hotel generally good. However, at breakfast time this was not the case. There was a business conference in what is usually the breakfast seating area. The buffet was set out at the far end of the dining area and we were eventually shown along a corridor to their restaurant area. This meant there was quite a walk back and forth for the various breakfast courses. This was not helped by the conference attendees standing directly in the buffet area despite having their own area. The whole experience was not relaxed or enjoyable. Plus the coffee machine broke and there was no one in attendance.
It was close to the train station and a great zoo. Staff was informative.
