Art Deco hotel with restaurant, near Zocalo Square
Where to start? The hotel was installing an elevator. Construction did not start early…

This property is definitely overrated and I made a mistake by booking it for the price.…

It was a pretty basic hotel, which is fine. WiFi was spotty/got overwhelmed. Not a criticism, but it is right on the zocalo, so it could be loud from outside. Future guests should be aware. Central location can’t be beat.

The Hotel Marques del Valle must have been the state of the art when built back in 1910 but hasn't been upgraded to 21st centuries standards since then. My room had exposed electrical conduit nailed to the wall, safe but unattractive, leading to two prong plug outlets. Consequently I could not fit my contemporary three prong plug into the electrical system. They advertise Wifi service. DO NOT BELIEVE THAT!!!! It takes a while to get "on line" and once you finally get a strong enough signal, you get bumped off. Only once was I was only able to use the wifi trouble free and that is because I got up 3:30 in the morning when no one else was on to bounce me off the system. The bathroom had two drains. That made sense because when you try to get hot water, you turn on the tap and wait five minutes for warm water to come through. All that excessive water overloads the shower drain and runs all over the floor; hence the other drain to prevent over-spill into the bedroom. The lighting system was archaic as well. There were two switches, one when you enter the room, the other switch by the bed enabling you to turn on the bed lamp. The point being that wherever you were resting, you had to walk across the room to turn the other switch off. The floors of the bedroom did not pass the "dirty bottom of your foot test. I had to whip the bottom of my foot off before placing them on the sheets and going to bed. I ended up leaving a day early. The Management refused to reimburse me.

Great downtown location, close to everything. Great shopping! Heads up, at night the Zócalo is packed with people dancing to different music/bands every night til 11pm. Fun place!

Hotel is located on the zocalo, and within easy walking distance of restaurants, museums, galleries, etc. However the Hotels location on the zocalo makes it somewhat noisy. The beds are hard and small, and the plastic matress protector was disconcerting and uncomfortable. The restaurant is not one that i would recommend for dinner or even breakfast but it is a nice spot to sit, relax, have a drink and people watch the zocalo, as it is situated on the open veranda of the hotel. The staff were attentive but unobtrusive. We spent 14 days in this hotel in March 2020.

Close to all but rooms overlooking the Zócalo was noisy as music played till 1am every night even when no one was at the clubs. Seems inconsiderate of the clubs as most everyone was gone by midnight. Bathrooms need better appointments and hot water was an not consistent. Staff was nice and place was clean so that was nice.
