Just looking for a clean bed and shower this is a good place. Dated but clean.

Good location, decent stay

Came up to visit EIU with a friend so this hotel was very close which was nice! Very convenient location. The beds are not the most comfortable but they worked for our short trip. There were mold looking spots on the ceiling in the shower so that gave us the eebie geebies but other than that, it was a good stay for what we needed! I’ve stayed here previously and will stay again mostly due to its location.

Building looks a bit dated from the outside, but the room was very clean, quiet and comfortable for the one night we were there.

Very typical small town economy lodging

This motel is one of only two in Charleston and is very typical of small town economy lodging. Very adequate for short stays. The good… The room was huge, definitely big enough for two king beds (we had one king bed). The mini-fridge and microwave worked well and the single serve coffee pot was adequate. The sink was outside the bathroom with a separate vanity. There was also a full length mirror (although strangely placed directly across from the bed). There was a desk for working and two chairs. The noise insulation seems to be quite good as we were next to the breakfast room and ice machine and didnt hear anything. The staff is helpful and nice. The location allows easy access to the highway and to most businesses in town, via walking or driving. The bad/strange… While the hotel is NOW non-smoking, it is old enough that the room definitely smelled of stale smoke, likely due to the old carpeting. The bed is a platform bed and the platform is made of a thin metal box, which causes odd noises when sitting down on, standing up from, or moving about on the bed (really weird). The bathroom is beyond small, so small that the door cannot be closed while sitting on the (extremely low) toilet. Not sure why the room was enormous and the bathroom this small. The breakfast buffet is very carb/sugar heavy—yogurt with sugar, 4 sugared cereals, toast of various types, waffles, juice, and coffee. It was fine but if you want protein, go out.

Easy, fast check-in. Friendly staff. Very clean. Bathroom was pretty small, beds not the most comfortable, but definitely didn't ruin the trip. I would definitely stay here again.

The beds were very comfortable. It was easy to find the property. Breakfast was ok, could have used more variety, but I did not leave hungry. Staff was outstanding. Lovely property and very nice stay. Thank you.

Of the three motels we stayed at during the long weekend trip, this one had the most efficient check in. That included accommodating early check in and a pet. This is the second time we’ve stayed here and if we get that way again we’ll use it again.

Didn't like the breakfast options. Blood stains on carpet and bathroom floor.
Jeanie, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

The room was dirty, beds sound like your laying just in springs. Feels like bongos are playing when you sleep. The worst hotel and the fact that we paid 116. I pay 116 for the Hilton embassy suites and its the best.
Christina, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Bed made a lot of noise.
Payge, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

The room was neat and clean as well as the property. The only thing we didn’t like is the bed is on a metal frame that makes noise when you get out of bed or move around.
Scot, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The room was neat and clean and had all the amenities I needed for a one-night stay. The shower drain did not clear as it should have and I left water there, but everything else worked well. The staff was pleasant. I would stay at this convenient location again. In fact, I'm thinking about reserving a room for later in the year.
Bonita, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Close to campus

The hotel looks very run down on the outside. As an EIU alum, I would recommend this hotel due to the proximity to campus and the bars/shops/restaurants. It is pretty much what you pay for. My only complaint about the room itself was that the bathroom sink was very small for a room with 2 queen beds and the bathroom itself was super tiny too.
Morgan, 2-night trip

To Expedia: this part wastes my time.

Awful

Awful room and condition, bugs crawling around. No one at desk overnight when you have complaints. Didn't end up staying the night,
kyler, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Had a king size bed that had a sheet metal frame around it that made whenever I moved which made it difficult to sleep.

2/10 Poor

Hotel from Hell!

HORRIBLE check-in. Attitude of the person checking me in was horrendous! Claimed I'd reserved 2 rooms!!! Had quite a discussion over that one even though I had a copy of my email confirmation. The carpeting in the hotel is absolutely filthy -- hallway AND room. One wall in the room appeared to have been shot with BB gun with all sort of paint chipped off the wall. The mattress appeared to be 15 years old with "grooves" in it. It sounded like a bass drum each time we moved. Discovered it was on a metal platform that continually popped. Wooden furniture VERY worn. Curtains falling off the rod with gap that let in light at night. All for over $100 a night!!! Do NOT stay here!!!
Susan, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Good coffee, only available for a limited time. I killed a brown recluse spider the size of a quarter that came running out of the bathroom. Door frame rubber torn and hanging down on parking lot side. People gathering/partying in the prkg lot all hours of the night. And sit on curb across from the hotel prkg lot and watch our rooms which made us feel very unsafe. Their continental breakfast was more like an island snack. Dry toast, cold cereal (no milk). Juice machine was broke. Great ice machine though. When I called en route, I spoke with Henry and told him what time we would be there and that I was bringing two small dogs, less than 20 lbs. He said no problem, they are a pet friendly facility but there was a $30 fee. Ok, no problem. When we got there and I checked in, he said it was $30 for the first dog and $40 for the second and that their pet friendly room was already taken and our room would not be the king bed, but two full/queen beds. Then there was a huge list of do's and don't's for the pet friendly option. Of course, they tell me that there is extra charges for pets in case of damage that will be assessed upon check out, etc. I went to the front desk and told them i was checking out and wanted them to do a walk through of the room to ensure no surprise charges. they refused. As a courtesy I always strip the beds down prior to checking out. I slept on the left side of the bed only. When I stripped the bed, the sheet under the covers was filthy. Terrible place.
