Paros Town Hotels

Commonly known as Parikia, Paros Town - Paros Island’s capital - offers all the trappings of a traditional Greek seaside holiday. Things to see

With its warm golden sand and alluring aquamarine water, Krios Beach is a haven for sun-baskers and bathers alike. Just 30 minutes’ walk or a short taxi boat ride from town, the beach provides the convenience of sunbeds, a bar and volley ball facilities. You can reach it from the picturesque Port of Parikia, the island’s gateway for many visitors. The centrepiece of the town, the gently bustling harbour is lined with a tempting cornucopia of cafés, bars and restaurants, with the main coastal road closing for pedestrians come evening. A short walk from the port you’ll find the 1,600 year old Ekatontapiliani Church. Dating all the way back to 326AD, the ancient church complex is believed to have been founded by Saint Helen. Just behind the church you’ll unearth the Paros Archaeological Museum. The small hub displays many of Paros’ local archaeological finds from the Neolithic to Roman periods, with exhibits that include pottery and sculptures.

The budget apartments and hotels in Paros Town are in excellent supply and offer similar amenities. Like much of the town’s accommodation, they often feature balconies, WiFi and satellite television in-room.

Where to stay

Many of the hotels in Paros Town can be found a stone’s throw from the harbour, not far from its distinctive white thatched windmill. The town’s heart however is its quintessentially Cycladic Old Town. Just a minute’s meander from the port, its Warren-like streets offer a wealth of dining and shopping opportunities, particularly in Market Street behind the town square. If you want a quieter stay than what lively Parikia offers, look to Naoussa, 10 kilometres to the north of the island. With its traditional character, the peaceful fishing village boasts the tranquil Santa Maria and Monastriri beaches, alongside some fantastic seafood restaurants and tavernas.

How to get to Paros Town

Paros National Airport is the island’s only airport, situated around 10 kilometres to the south of Paros Town. The only hub it serves is Athens International, which many visitors fly to before making a connecting flight to the island. It’s an especially well-linked airport, serving many European destinations, as well as cities in the United States, Canada, Asia and the Middle East. Once you’ve landed at Paros National Airport, a taxi or pre-arranged hotel pick-up service can whisk you to your accommodation. You can also land on neighbouring Naxos, as well as other islands, before catching a ferry or high speed catamaran to the Port of Parikia.
