Hotel was wonderful and indeed with good service. However, reception had issues seeing that I had already paid for the room (pre-pay redeeming two free nights). I had to look for the receipt in the app and pass this on. No harm - this is what happens - but I was surprised that this even happened. First time in more than 10 years I have experienced this. Hotel was overall good but did not have or did not tell us about an elevator and the room had no AC. The June temperatures were 30 - 33, but it did cool off nicely at night. The thatched roof is neat! There is a very nice trail to walk on.

Reboot of hotel (opened in spring). Quiet, pretty location a bit off the beaten path, in nice residential area bordering forest and overlooking small river (Alster) lock. Good restaurant (which also serves as event venue) serving traditional German food with outside seating. Short drive to great mall Altertal Einkaufs Zentrum (AEZ) with excellent shopping and decent food options.
