Historic Downtown Durango
Historic City centre Durango captures the Wild West spirit with its brick-lined Main Avenue and Victorian shopfronts. The Strater Hotel stands proudly while the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway whistles through town. Art galleries showcase Western paintings, and the aroma of craft beer drifts from century-old buildings turned breweries. Mountain views and the Animas River create a stunning backdrop. Dining options range from steakhouses in Victorian buildings to casual brewpubs with local green chile specialities. The area is highly walkable with a free trolley connecting major attractions. Boutique inns and historic hotels offer charming accommodation with period décor, perfect for experiencing this authentic mountain town.

Animas River District
The Animas River District combines the charm of historic railways with a fresh creative spirit along Durango's waterfront. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway depot anchors this revitalised area where art installations pop against converted brick industrial buildings. Stroll the Animas River Trail to discover public art murals, peaceful cottonwood groves, and scenic overlooks perfect for watching kayakers navigate the clear mountain waters. Brewery patios and riverside dining spots offer local green chile dishes after a day of exploration. Boutique hotels and riverside lodges provide stylish accommodation with mountain charm. The highly walkable district connects to city centre, with paved trails and bike lanes making car-free adventure a breeze.

North Main District
North Main District offers a peaceful retreat with its Victorian-era homes and tree-lined streets away from Durango's tourist bustle. History buffs will love exploring the preserved architecture while outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy nearby access to the Animas River Trail. The Durango Community Recreation Centre provides active options for visitors wanting to maintain their workout routine. Family-owned cafes and casual eateries serve up hearty Colorado comfort food at wallet-friendly prices. Cosy bed & breakfasts in restored Victorian homes and holiday rentals offer authentic stays with personal touches. Most attractions require a short drive, but the quiet residential charm makes this budget-friendly area worth the extra distance.

Columbine Lake
Columbine Lake is a slice of mountain paradise where towering pines meet serene waters. This quiet area wraps around a private lake with rustic homes nestled among the trees. Nature takes centre stage here with misty mornings, pine-scented air, and plenty of wildlife watching opportunities. Getting around requires your own wheels since public transit is limited in this peaceful retreat. Holiday rentals range from cosy cabins to spacious mountain homes, all offering that authentic Colorado mountain living experience. City centre Durango's restaurants and shops are just a 15-minute drive away.

The General Palmer Hotel
"There were a couple of issues during this stay. I was in one of the deluxe room on the third floor. The room was a bit dark as the walls are painted dark brown where the TV is and the two chairs against the wall were also dark brown and the carpet on the floor is pretty dark as well. My lamp did not work very efficiently seem like it had a bit of a short, my toilet seat was a skew and every time I sat on it it moved to the side, the air conditioning unit was not the easiest to operate you had to go right in front of it to get it to work properly, the windows were hard to open due to the humidity and rain and there was no bottled water. Otherwise the stuff was pleasant enough, but could have been more welcoming. The location is absolutely incredible, the rooms are very quiet, the bed is comfortable but the sheet over the down comforter I had to remove because it was very rough and scratchy not soft at all. The location is exceptional and I would stay there again due to the location and the breakfast was delicious."
Durango Lodge
"This is an older hotel but well maintained and clean. The bathrooms are small but the room is okay and well furnished. The beds are comfortable but the pillows are awful. The only reason I wouldn't give five stars is the thick firm pillows and nothing but. My neck still hurts. Honestly I didn't ask if they had other pillows. The office closes at night."
Historic Strater Hotel
"Classic old style hotel kept up like new. Fun to walk thru and would definitely stay again!"
Super 8 by Wyndham Durango
"The hotel was very clean and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was on the main road and very excessive. The breakfast had a large variety of food and tasted great."
Boundary Hotel By Terra Vi Durango

Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Durango Downtown by IHG
"Nice spacious room and quiet."
The Junction Hotel and Hostel
"The staff was training a new employee so it was ok. Things not so good: if you need good WiFi, it is not good. But there is a coffee shop nearby that was great. If you must have good tv, be prepared to struggle. I don’t need tv so I did fine. Great things, staff was very nice and patient with the new employee and me. Room was very clean. And had everything I needed. Price was great for the area and its location is great. I would stay again."
Sleep Inn Durango
"We go to this hotel every time we come to Durango. So comfortable."
