Alghero City Centre
Alghero's ancient centre wraps you in sun-soaked medieval magic that feels like stepping into a history book with better food. Catalan-Gothic architecture lines cobblestone streets where church bells mix with seagull cries. The honey-colored walls and towers lead to a gorgeous waterfront promenade where locals and visitors gather for epic Mediterranean sunsets. Coral artisan workshops hide between family-run trattorias serving up Italian-Catalan fusion dishes. The entirely walkable historic centre lets you explore everything within 15 minutes on foot. Boutique hotels in converted palazzos offer stone walls and sea views while restaurants along the Bastioni serve fresh seafood until late evening. The compact layout makes getting lost in the best possible way inevitable and totally worth it.
Lido
Golden sands stretch along azure Mediterranean waters in Lido, Alghero's primary beach paradise. The picturesque Lungomare Dante promenade invites sunset strolls with panoramic sea views. Beach clubs dot the coastline where visitors can rent umbrellas or try water sports like paddleboarding and kayaking. Seafront restaurants serve fresh seafood and Sardinian cuisine on terraces overlooking the water. Hotels range from luxury resorts to mid-range options with direct beach access. Most travellers rely on rental cars or taxis, though the flat terrain makes cycling a popular alternative for exploring this sun-soaked haven.

Alghero Old City
Alghero's Old City wraps visitors in medieval magic with every step on its worn cobblestone streets. Gothic churches stand sentinel among honey-colored buildings while the Mediterranean sparkles beyond ancient ramparts. Discover coral jewellery workshops tucked between seafood restaurants and peek into centuries-old courtyards. The entirely pedestrian zone allows wanderers to roam freely from the bustling Piazza Civica to quiet corners where church bells echo off stone walls. Waterfront trattorias serve fresh seafood with enviable sunset views. The neighborhood's boutique hotels occupy converted medieval palazzos with stone walls and vaulted ceilings. Getting around means walking (comfy shoes required!), but the compact size makes exploration delightfully manageable.

Pivarada
Pivarada's golden stone lanes wind through Alghero's medieval heart, where Catalan Gothic architecture frames stunning Mediterranean views. Fishermen still dock at the ancient harbour while church bells echo off weathered facades. The area offers a perfect blend of cultural exploration and seaside relaxation with San Giovanni Beach just steps away. Traditional trattorias serve fresh seafood and local specialities as the sun sets over the water. The area is best explored on foot, with comfortable boutique hotels and family-run B&Bs housed in converted historic buildings. Local buses connect to modern Alghero every 15-20 minutes for those wanting to venture beyond the medieval walls.

La Pietraia
La Pietraia is a peaceful residential retreat on the outskirts of Alghero that offers a genuine glimpse into authentic Sardinian life. The quiet streets and family-oriented atmosphere make a perfect base for travellers seeking respite from tourist crowds. When you're ready to explore, San Giovanni Beach, Port of Alghero, and Maria Pia Beach are just a short drive away. Local trattorias and area pizzerias serve traditional Sardinian fare at budget-friendly prices. Most travellers stay in holiday rentals or small B&Bs with self-catering options that won't break the bank. While public transport is limited, the tranquil residential streets are perfect for evening strolls after busy days exploring Alghero's attractions.

Hotel Domomea
"Clean spacious room, good location, simple breakfast, wonderful staff"
Hotel Soleado
"We had some issues on our first night but staff responded very well to our concerns. In fact, all the staff were very helpful and kind. Great location beside beach and 20 minute walk from town."
Hotel Florida
"Everything it was nice ,staff was kind ,cleaning , very good location, just I didn’t like there was no wardrobe in the rooms!"
Smy Carlos V Alghero
"The hotel is Ok , but I was expecting more from a 5 star hotel. The service was not 5 star as several times the first answer was always NO , until a second person from the staff heard what was happening and came “for the rescue”. The furniture needs renovation, the sofas in the rooms and lobby look really old , the bed covers look extremely old and have to be changed, they give a really first bad impression the first time you enter the room. The breakfast is Ok but no so special for a 5 star hotel. The location is not bad , 15-20 minutes walk to the historic center where most of the life is . There are no many hotel options in Alghero but this is no reason for a “5 star” hotel not to excel."
Hotel Punta Negra
"A really nice hotel, we had a room overlooking the sea. Super"
Hotel Corte Rosada – Adults Only Affiliated by Meliá
