1. I texted the property in Expedia app (contact property) about earliest and latest check in times. No reply. I texted Expedia about why I got no reply and they only foisted me back into the same unresponsive chat. 2. You need a Japanese translator to stay here! Thanks to him! 3. My Japanese friend called and got the front door code and room code. Great. 4. I made it into the building and room. I found batteries and pieces of plastic on the floor. Weird. I then figured out that the inner lock mechanism had fallen off the door and wouldn't work anymore! 5. I reassembled the lock. It was attached to the door with like a "Command Strip". Not nearly strong enough for a lock that needs to be there. Very worried it would fall off before I returned, locking me out. 6. My Japanese friend called again and they pointed him to a video "when the lock fails". Yes they have stashed a key for these situations. Yes they have a video since this must happen often. 7. I got the conventional key and felt more confident. 8. I later purchased super glue and affixed the lock myself. 9. This episode made me feel very uncomfortable about the whole stay. My friend group all felt that I had not chosen well.
