Mangrove Bay Resort in Marsa Alam proved to be a major disappointment despite its promising location. The only redeeming feature was the diving center, which operates independently from the resort. Staff there were professional, helpful, and made diving and snorkeling experiences excellent. For those who plan to spend all day at sea, the underwater world here is worth it. Unfortunately, the resort itself failed on nearly every front.
Cleanliness was unacceptable: dirty sheets with footprints and even boarding passes from previous guests left in the room raised serious hygiene concerns. The swimming pool was neglected, covered in dust and oil films, making it unusable. Food quality was poor and misleadingly advertised as “full board.” Meals were repetitive, limited, and often recycled, with no variety or proper preparation. Breakfasts were sparse, lunches uninspired, and dinners lacked assortment or fresh options. Worse still, the restaurant staff were notably rude, creating an unpleasant atmosphere at mealtimes. While housekeeping and reception were polite, the dining experience was marred by hostility. Even the “seaview” rooms were misleading ours was blocked entirely by a large tree, making the advertised view nonexistent.
In conclusion, Mangrove Bay Resort is not recommended for anyone seeking comfort, cleanliness, or decent food. Divers may tolerate the stay for reef access, but for a relaxing holiday, better alternatives exist in Marsa Alam. Choose a different hotel.
