Short North
Short North pulses with creative energy as Columbus's premier arts district. Galleries line High Street, where Victorian buildings house contemporary art spaces and boutique shops. The monthly Gallery Hop transforms pavements into a lively parade of art lovers exploring illuminated shopfronts and pop-up displays. Colourful murals splash across brick walls while street performers add to the artistic atmosphere. Dining options range from upscale farm-to-table restaurants to casual gastropubs with craft cocktails and local brews. Boutique hotels in historic buildings offer artistic flair and personalised service. The neighborhood's excellent walkability makes exploring easy, with most attractions within a three-block radius.

German Village
German Village charms visitors with its brick-lined streets and 19th-century architecture that feels like a slice of Europe in Ohio. The Book Loft beckons with 32 rooms of literary treasures, while Schiller Park offers 23 acres of green space perfect for people-watching. Wander past historic cottages and breathe in the mouthwatering aromas wafting from authentic German eateries. The area serves up hearty German cuisine alongside upscale American bistros, with most spots requiring weekend reservations. Boutique bed & breakfasts in restored Victorian homes provide the perfect home base for exploring. The area's highly walkable layout makes getting around a breeze, though cobblestones can be tricky for those with mobility concerns.

Downtown Columbus
City centre Columbus buzzes with big-city energy, where sleek skyscrapers meet historic theatres. Catch a hockey game at Nationwide Arena or browse local goods at North Market before taking in a show at the ornate Ohio or Palace Theatre. The Columbus Museum of Art offers a peaceful retreat from the business district's hustle, while seasonal festivals bring the streets to life. Dining ranges from quick food lorry lunches to upscale steakhouses with strong happy hour scenes. Hotels cater primarily to business travellers with mid to high-end pricing. The area is highly walkable with excellent bus service and bike lanes connecting attractions throughout the district.

Arena District
The Arena District buzzes with electric energy on game nights when hockey fans storm Nationwide Arena. Surrounding the sports complex, you'll find sleek bars and restaurants ready to fuel your pre-concert excitement or post-game celebrations. KEMBA Live! draws music lovers while the Columbus Children's Theatre adds cultural flair to this entertainment hub. Upscale steakhouses and sports bars dominate the food scene, though prices climb when events are happening. Modern hotels and luxury apartments offer stylish places to crash after the action dies down. Everything sits within easy walking distance, but be ready for crowds when the Blue Jackets are playing or a big concert hits town.

University District
The University District pulses with the energy of Ohio State's sprawling campus. Catch cutting-edge exhibitions at the Wexner Centre for the Arts or cheer with thousands at "The Shoe" stadium. High Street buzzes with vintage shops, concert venues like Newport Music Hall, and diverse eateries that cater to student budgets and curious foodies alike. COTA buses connect you to city centre Columbus in minutes, while the walkable campus invites exploration of its tree-lined quads and Mirror Lake. Budget-friendly hotels and apartments offer practical lodging, though rates spike during football season and graduation. The area truly shines on game days when scarlet and grey transform the streets into a lively celebration.

Holiday Inn Columbus Dwtn-Capitol Square by IHG
"This was a very great hotel! We will stay again. It was an overnight stay. The only problem was there was no breakfast at the restaurant like told. I must say the air in our room was nice and COLD, lol. And there is a tub after long travel and busy day to relax."
Hyatt Place Columbus/Worthington
"The hotel was off of the expressway which was a plus. The breakfast wasn't as good as expected. The staff was friendly."
Courtyard by Marriott Columbus Worthington
"Nice atmosphere. Very clean room and comfortable"
Sonesta Columbus Downtown
"From the moment I arrived at the Sonesta, the front desk staff and hotel employees were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They were quick to respond to the few requests I had, If you’re planning to stay at the Sonesta downtown location, I highly recommend requesting one of the “loft rooms” overlooking Nationwide Boulevard. These rooms are incredibly spacious and feature a stylish industrial, urban design. The building was originally a boutique hotel before becoming part of the Sonesta brand, and I’m so glad they preserved its unique character. The Lofts have the charm and ambiance of a New York City making for a memorable and a distinctive hotel experience."
Drury Inn & Suites Columbus Polaris
"Great evening dinner and drinks. lovely breakfast. They accommodated us with a late checkout because I had a late afternoon medical appointment. Very pleased with our stay. We will come again."
Hilton Columbus Downtown

The Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center
"I didn't eat any of the food while I was there, so I can't comment on that. I used the valet service which was great! The room was very spacious, clean & comfortable. They could have splurged on better toilet paper! The water pressure was really nice in the shower. I didn't hear noise from other rooms; just doors in hallway closing. Just a very nice experience."
Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel
"I love how organized and clean the property was. I also was able to get an upgrade because it was my birthday. The rooms were very spacious beautiful views Pool the highlight of the trip just wish they had continental breakfast maybe longer hours for the restaurant"

This duration allows visitors to explore significant landmarks, enjoy live music, attend sports events, and partake in local festivals. Additionally, you can experience the artistic offerings, university life, and diverse shopping opportunities that make Columbus a great value for money destination. Take advantage of this affordable timeframe, as prices may drop even further, enhancing your experience while keeping your budget in check.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals for Columbus, begin by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. This way, if rooms become available or prices drop, you’ll be among the first to know and can secure your getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in a hotel in Columbus. For those seeking distinctive experiences, boutique hotels may provide a more personalised touch and potentially better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, increasing the likelihood that you may save on your booking.

For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often great value for money to be found.
