Downtown Columbus
City centre Columbus pairs Victorian elegance with modern adventure along the Chattahoochee River. The 15-mile RiverWalk offers prime spots to watch kayakers tackle whitewater rapids. History buffs will love exploring the ornate Springer Opera House, while art lovers can catch performances at the gleaming RiverCenter. The preserved 19th-century architecture creates a charming backdrop for your explorations. Southern cuisine dominates local menus, from upscale restaurants to casual riverfront bistros serving Georgia peach cobbler. Most attractions sit within six blocks, making it perfect for walking tours. Boutique hotels in converted historic buildings offer period furnishings and authentic Southern hospitality.

Downtown Historic District
Columbus's City centre Historic District mixes rich history with riverside charm. Wander past grand Victorian buildings like the 1871 Springer Opera House or follow the wooden boardwalk along the rushing Chattahoochee River. Former cotton warehouses now house craft breweries with exposed beams, while the Coca-Cola Space Science Centre adds a modern touch to this historic area. The compact district is perfect for exploring on foot, with most attractions within a few blocks of each other. Southern cuisine restaurants and brewpubs serve up local specialities, while boutique hotels in converted warehouses and Victorian B&Bs offer character-filled accommodation for overnight stays.

MidTown
MidTown Columbus brings history to life through gorgeous Victorian homes and Colonial Revival mansions lining tree-shaded streets. Art lovers can explore regional collections and Civil War artefacts at the Columbus Museum, while literary buffs shouldn't miss the Smith-McCullers House. The area's quiet charm and walkable historic core make it perfect for travellers who appreciate architecture and Southern heritage. Local cafes and area bistros serve up delicious Southern comfort food at reasonable prices. Visitors can stay in charming bed & breakfasts housed in restored Victorian homes with personalised service. Wide pavements and minimal traffic create an ideal setting for peaceful evening strolls through this authentic residential area.

East Highlands
East Highlands offers a peaceful retreat from Columbus's bustle with tree-lined streets and mid-century homes that tell stories of suburban American history. Take leisurely walks under mature oak canopies and admire the well-maintained lawns that create a park-like atmosphere. This quiet area provides a genuine glimpse into everyday residential life away from tourist crowds. While the area itself has no restaurants or shops, you'll need to venture to nearby commercial areas for dining and shopping needs. Accommodation options include charming holiday rentals and occasional bed & breakfasts in historic homes. A car is essential for exploring Columbus attractions, though the neighborhood's pavements are perfect for evening strolls.

Weracoba-St. Elmo Historic District
Weracoba-St. Elmo Historic District welcomes you with tree-lined streets showcasing early 20th-century architectural gems. Spend your day strolling past Craftsman bungalows and Colonial Revival homes like you're walking through an outdoor design museum. Weracoba Park (aka Lakebottom Park) anchors the area with scenic trails, sports facilities, and a peaceful lake perfect for afternoon exploring. This quiet residential area offers authentic Columbus living with minimal tourist infrastructure. You'll need a car to reach city centre dining options and hotels since the district itself has limited commercial offerings. Wide, shady pavements make for excellent walking conditions while you soak up the tranquil atmosphere away from the typical tourist crowds.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Columbus at Northlake by IHG
"Awesome stay check in was fast, rooms clean and a variety of breakfast"
City Mills Hotel
"Loved our stay at City Mills Hotel! The room and decor were so eclectic and unique, with a style that really captured the character of an old mill. Everything was clean and well maintained. The shower was incredible—huge showerhead! And I absolutely loved all of the PURE bath products. 🛁✨ We also enjoyed drinks at the bar in the restaurant overlooking the river, which was such a relaxing spot. We had already had dinner so didn’t have a chance to sample the eats!!! A charming hotel with lots of character and some really nice touches. Bonus points for the **free parking**! Would definitely stay again! ❤️"

"Todo muy bueno piscina limpia y toallas y ropa de dormir limpia al igual de toallas de piscina"
Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Columbus/Near Fort Benning
"Excellent customer service with recently renovated rooms. Everything is immaculate and found the rooms to be better than comparable and even higher-priced hotels. Very close proximity to Fort Benning for those seeking out accommodations for Army graduation. I'm not a breakfast person, so as long as there's coffee, I'm happy. Plenty of restaurants in the area and Doordash easily delivers directly to the rooms. I'm a bit picky when it comes to hotels and this one was absolutely perfect in almost every way. It's highly unlikely I'll return to Columbus following my son's basic training graduation, but if I ever do, I'd definitely stay here again. Note: I see some people refer to the immediate surrounding areas as being "not great". I live outside of Baltimore and travel there and to DC frequently. I never felt unsafe and I'm a woman. The immediate area isn't easily walkable (major highways intersecting nearby), but it's still close to many stores, restaurants, etc. Just like any place, lock your car doors and be aware of your surroundings, but, again, I felt completely safe here! Also, military families are told to stay away from Victory Drive. It's not that bad to me, but I wouldn't be walking out there at night. Just like adjacent to many military bases, there's always a strip that contains strip clubs, bars, drugs and prostitutes. No big surprise and no big deal. Just stay away from these areas (unless this is what you're actually seeking out)."

"The front desk staff is very nice and accommodating. The room and the property are very clean too"

"Breakfast clean room"
Courtyard by Marriott Columbus
""EVERYONE" here was extremely pleasant and easy to deal with. From the front desk manager to the girls who take care of the rooms. Several young men who were staff members greeted me first in the morning when I came out for coffee. A solid greeting, looked me in the eye and said good morning sir , which I appreciate. Food court served an outstanding breakfast burrito (no free breakfast) but the rates were outstanding for a Marriot property. Highly recommend you stay here !"
