Over all I was 50/50 happy due to police turning up for one of the residents and neighbours letting off fire works

DO NOT STAY HERE
Photos are nothing like the hotel. Had someone trying to get into my room all night. I have stayed in hotels all over the world including hostels and this is by far the worst experience of my life.

We didn’t stay. On arriving at the property the outside areas were unkempt with what looked like broken or discarded furniture outside quite a few rooms. Can’t report on the condition of the room as we didn’t go into one. The gentleman at reception was very polite and helpful and explained that the property has a contract with a government department to accommodate their clients. Shouldn’t really be on a tourist accommodation site.

Appalling is an understatement! Absolutely nothing like the photos. Tagging in the bathroom and on the fridge, cigarette burns in flooring, derelict, boarded up outside. Photos are a total lie. Do not stay here

Basic room
Booked last minute and yes room was basic but very dated and things hanging off, noise all night from other residents music vehicles or talking. Tea coffee but no milk. Bedroom light didn’t work

The site is obviously using photos from years ago. The property was nothing like the photos. It is badly run down, the room was dirty, broken toilet, damaged wall patched up with plaster not repaired or painted. Holes in the walls, graffiti on the walls & carpet. Room smelt badly. We did not stay the night, took the keycard back to reception and left. I generously gave the staff a 3 star rating, they did nothing wrong but the place is shocking. I will never stay there.

Worst example of the actual room not being anything like the photo posted in the ad I have ever come across. Building going on in the next room, lights, plugs, fan that did not work, no spare blankets or extra pillows, the top sheet on the bed was on top of the blanket/ comforter, ( do they wash the blankets? Noisy cars outside the room at all hours, smokes to doors propped open with bricks, heat pump held together with duct tape. I feel tricked and conned by the ad photos. Do not be fooled.

Rant - Someone opened my door while sleeping
So, I stayedbat what they now call Manukau hotel and conference for 2 nights. I don't know if this place should even be called a hotel. It wasn't specified but I think its being used as an emergency housing accommodation. As many of the reviews have stated, the experience was not good at all. The photos on the website are outdated, walls are run down and filled with graffiti, no milk provided, the very bare necessities for amenities, and the noise from the other residents at night. I could hear people talking and running in the corridors at 1am. The most shocking incident of all though was my door being opened by what seemed as security. I was just about to fall asleep when I heard a door knocking. I didn't respond straight away, next thing I hear is the door unlocking and the door opening which got me right out of bed. When the guy saw me he apologized and closed the door. I overheard someone saying "I told you someone was in". Like, dont they have a list of occupied rooms? The next night, these 2 girls knocked at the door asking if their sis in in the room. Then they started claiming that it was her room things, but were cleared out in the end. Moral of the story, if you don't mind the above, go for it. Otherwise stay away.

The water in shower was great pressure and heated up quickly. The fridge kept drinks cold. The A/C worked nicely. The two beds were made up with a blanket under the top sheet. A pillow smelled funny. The light above the bed flickered, the light shade above the bathroom door was very dirty. The desk drawers had graffitti inside and were dirty, the fridge seals were falling apart and had mould growing in it. The bathroom floor had some hair that was not my colour, the faucet was loose in sink, the paint was peeling in the bathroom behind the door. The TV was tiny, the remote buttons were worn so you couldn't read them, the battery flap was missing, the remote was greasy. The receptionist office chair covering was completely worn out, the glass on restaurant door was broken, I don't think the restaurant was used anymore. The emergency housing people upstairs were very loud, there are broken cars in carparks and boarded up terraces due to these people being there.

Smooth check in. Room was a decent size. Was barely anything in it though apart from a bed in the corner. Tv didn't work, A/C had no remote. Door locked but didn't shut properly. Very noisy people right next door, I know that's not the properties' fault but still added another negative aspect to the stay. Would stay here as a last resort and nothing more.

The room was ok, mostly clean, tidy. The hotel had no restaurant or bar, the hallway and outside smelt of cigarettes. Most rooms are taken up for emergency housing. The room itself was ok, relatively new. But overall the hotel itself was rundown and disappointing.

Booked for 2 nights. For 8 of us. Had asked for adjoining rooms. Didn’t get that. Had said to the cleaner only one room needed cleaning. On our return the room hadn’t been cleaned at all. Staff very friendly. We were on holiday and it seemed that we were surrounded by homeless people. I didn’t feel safe. When I booked they said the only day the restaurant wasn’t open was Sundays. On arrival Saturday was told that the restaurant was having problems so it was closed until further notice. I don’t think it’s a family friendly hotel. Thank gosh for UberFood!!

Says it's a smoke free room but it stunk with smoke. Phone doesnt work and also checked before our arrival if they have hairdryer but tried to use it didn't work. However they did give me a working hairdryer when asked for one. And they did offer to change our room. So thank you for that.

The stay here was great, the only down fall I had was the landline in the room, was trying to order room service however the line was not working at all? I even tried using my mobile to contact front reception but kept getting the voicemail, but when I eventually got through the kitchen was closed. But other than that, enjoyed the stay here and would rebook again.

Budget short stay
This is a tired hotel in need of refurbishment, however it did not disappoint us in the least - the staff were very helpful and friendly, the beds were comfortable and as our stay was brief it well suited our needs.
