This is my second visit to the hotel i found the telephone in the room not working, you cannot call reception or room service, also the cleaning team knocking doors several times for clean in spit of there is sign on door if you need them they are noisy.

Started out great, then fell apart quickly
I was upgraded to a nice room as the hotel was not so booked. I had to extend my stay and booked it in person. They downgraded me to an ancient room and didn't even ask me or tell me about it. Worse, it was completely inconvenient to get into and out of. Massive construction going on making it a disaster to get in and out of. Not sure if I'd ever stay here again as a result. Clearly an incredible hotel century ago, but functionally dysfunctional now. They made the mistake with me of giving me a crap room after clearly booking a Tier 1 room. Stupid management or employee decision as a result.

We arrived at 1am but there was still staff to check us in. The property itself is presented well and we had a little balcony with amazing views of the palace. This property is a favorite place to stay in Sofia. Some floors have been completely renovated, while others have retained their original charm. One side overlooks the church, which is quite scenic, while the other overlooks an archeological site that the city of Sofia has neglected for the last ten years. The hotel is fantastic. The front desk operates 24/7, and the area is safe. It's an excellent place for business and leisure. If you have an early flight, get a cab, but for everything else, there is a direct subway train to SOF Terminal 2, which takes about 40 minutes. It's at the "Serdika" subway station between "Vitoshka" and "Largo."
