The best local Thai restaurants in Kamala can be found around this very small and quiet town on the west coast of Phuket. Most of the island's major resort destinations saturate their seafront with places which aren't really that local. These restaurants often have huge menus containing cuisines from around the world, with only a couple of pages dedicated to overpriced Thai dishes.

While touristy restaurants are dominant in Kamala, there are plenty of alternatives which locals visit for authentic Thai dishes. If you want to experience the true taste of Thailand – and, quite frankly, who wouldn’t? – you have to look out for Thai restaurants that specialise in proper local cuisine while keeping their prices low and fair.

Charoen Seafood at Kamala Dreams is a family-run restaurant serving homemade and authentic local Thai cuisine.
