Torrevieja

What you need to know before you go

The seaside city of Torrevieja lies in Alicante, a province on the south-eastern coast of Spain. It’s an excellent destination for a winter sun holiday as the city enjoys an average of 320 days of sunshine per year and miles of pristine beaches bearing the European Blue Flag. Palm-lined promenades run along the resort-backed beaches of La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequión and Los Náufragos, where you can find plenty of excellent restaurants, bars and shops.

If you’re looking to learn about Torrevieja’s fishing and salt-mining history, must-visits include the Museo del Mar y de la Sal (Museum of the Sea and Salt), along with the La Mata and Torrevieja Lagoons Nature Park. Families can head to the city’s great water parks during the summer months, which offer plenty of waterslides and pools, as well as sections dedicated for relaxing picnics.
