Unfortunately we were told on arrival our room wasn't ready as there was a problem, the hotel was full and the room wouldn't be available until the following day. The person on reception assured us that the replacement hotel was the same standard which it clearly wasn't. The replacement hotel was clean, staff friendly, but furniture and provisions utilitarian, no luxuries and tight for space.
On going back later that evening to complain to staff at deSilva that there was no comparison between the standard of the hotels, we eventually were offered a room for the following day and as an apology were given a room upgrade & complimentary evening meal on our second (our final) night - it was only a 2 night stay.
We requested to speak to the manager on that day who was apologetic about us being given such poor service,
The staff made every effort to make up for the experience, the room was lovely, the meal good, and they arranged a taxi to the airport at their cost on our departure. We left on good terms, they tried very hard to make sure we were comfortable, but half our stay was spoiled by the experience, and the meal just about made up for the difference in cost of the rooms. But the taxi was appreciated.
