2/10 Poor

Our windows had public seating right outside!

This place was ok, but our Junior suit had to have the curtains closed at all times, as the room is ground level and the bar has tables for guests outside the very large windows!! Reception were quite unhelpful, stating we should have known about this from the hotel room description, which wasn't on Hotels details! Also the area of Spalding is run down and not very aspirational to visit.

This hotel was perfect for my cycling trip to the fens. I chose a single room, but the bed felt more like a 1.5 size in a room that was clean and spacious enough to also store my bike. It was walking distance to the centre of Spalding and OMG, the full English breakfast was tasty! Thanks to all the staff for a great stay!

Fantastic place! The staff was friendly and accommodating. Spalding may not be a large tourist hub, but I highly recommend this spot if you find yourself in town.

We had a very comfortable stay at Cley Hall Hotel. The room was lovely, and although cold when we arrived, there was additional plug in radiator that we could use, which made it very cosy. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel and breakfast was great, lots of choice. The room was cosy and very clean. I will definitely stay again. We were visiting relatives so didn’t spend time in the bar area bug it looked very inviting. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

March 2023

First room door handle was loose and room was changed with no fuss.
Lynnette, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

One room smelt of damp and it could be seen around the window, toilet seat was loose, in the other room no handbasin plug and the pull cord to the bathroom was broken and not easy to reach. In both rooms the carpet was stained. On a positive noth the breakfast had lots of choice and the staff were helpful

Recent stay at Cley Hall

Have stayed at Cley Hall a few times now as we really like the Hotel .Staff are all very friendly ,rooms are clean, beds are very comfortable and you get a good breakfast.I was dissapointed this time though as I booked the room we like downstairs which we have stayed in twice previously but on arrival we were told we were in a different room which was separate to the hotel ,I did query this as I was sure I had booked the room downstairs but I was told that I hadn't and I could not prove this at the time .We like the room in the hotel as you do not hear any traffic noise as my Husband is a light sleeper and I prefer to be in the hotel rather than have a door straight from the road into the room. I have just checked my booking with hotels.com and I had booked the business studio (no window)One thing I think would be a good idea ,in the booklet in the room about the hotel and the rooms it would be handy to have instructions on how to use the heating/towel rails ,we did ask but the lady on reception did not know ,it would have been nice just to have heating on low in the evening and also heating on low when having a shower

Old world charm

We had an excellent 3 night stay. The building is old, quaint, and full of history. The staff were so helpful. Hanna, a staff member was particularly so. But all the staff were delightful, and attentive. The breakfast was generous and excellent quality. There is no food severed at weekends. But we were given a list of places to eat out and local takeaways. The Hotel provided plates and cutlery and napkins, and could drink our own alcohol in the lounge after the bar had shut. So we received lots of support from the staff to make sure we were still taken care of. We will definitely return, as we have friends in that area.

4/10 Fair

I booked a classic double for one person. On arrival the room faced the main road, the supplementary double glazing was missing on one window which i was later told should not be taken out as that window opened to wide fir safety. Another panel was not in the grooves so ineffective allowing noise in. The nightporter/handiman tried to rectify but couldnt, therefore this room had obviously not been checked and was not fit for purpose, in that traffic noise would not allow a good nights sleep. The only other room available was an executive double for which i had to pay a further £57.45 for the night, this room was quiet at the back but still had minor issues. On the whole the front of the hotel and rear garden are shabby, could do with a good tidy up, the area itself is not appealing. I had read the reviews before booking but im afraid i did not share the same experience.

Lovely find .

Lovely welcome even though we checked in later than usual Room was large with a sofa and desk area( room2) . Overlooking the main road, but traffic noise wasnt bad. Nice brekki.. continental and cooked with fresh coffee , self service apart from your cooked order. Would return. Thanks.
