Beware! Bad vibes! Top 10 worst experiences for me! I was curiously insulted by the unkind clerk before I even checked in. Believe it or not things progressively got worse in the room! lol! In entirety I spent 45 minutes in the building before I kindly asked the unkind clerk for my refund then left.

Very old and run down.
Just old. Has never been updated. They turn all the heat off to save money and it is freezing in the entire building. Takes forever to get comfortable in your room. Tiny tv and old mattress.

The Avalon was very run down and there was absolutely nothing like a cafe or restaurant inside the hotel. We checked in went to our room and left due to not feeling safe. The room sat empty. We went back and checked out the next day. We never stayed.

Odd
Everything is closed… No restaurant no lounge. No other guests… kinda Odd. You can’t even purchase like waters or pop. There is a vending machine with a few snacks. The heat does not work well and our room was very cold. There was ice on the inside of the windows when we woke up. Ok area found a few bars/restaurants nearby. There was also Family Dollar and a Rite Aid, They just closed very early.

Hotel is old but in good shape. Room was clean and had amenities stated (soap, shampoo, towels, coffee pot). Great location downtown so very easy to walk to some really nice restaurants/bars in area. We had kids w/ us and did not feel unsafe at any point, even in evening. I would suggest that the hotel take down the old pictures of the on property restaurants/bars that do not exist any more...seems misleading. Also, would be nice to at least offer a small continental breakfast. Front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. Parking lot was also nice to have and easy to use.
Overall a good economical hotel if you want to be in the heart of downtown erie.

I liked that it was close to Hamot Hospital. My room was clean and quiet. I did nit like that they only have 1 person working the front desk. The luggage carts are filthy. They had a car parked durectly in the path of the curb fir handicaos and you couldn't get the luggage diwn ti your cart. I told them about the cart because I am handicapped. Some of the rugs are loose and ciming up and dust is apparent on glass tops. I was woken by a wakeup call at 4.30am both mornings. I was told they would stop it after it happened once. To me this should not be the case fir what they charge.

Hair on the floor in the bathroom upon arrival. Shower was gross and dirty. Shower head was install at about 5 feet so I had to bend over to use it. Air conditioner didn’t work. Told this to the checkout staff and she said sorry as if she’s heard this 1000 times. They know the place is trash. Do not recommend.
