The property was perfect for what we needed! Hotel staff at the counter was the best I have ever had!!
Its a nice economical place to stay. Nice pool and a neat fish pond! Clean. Lobby did smell strong of smoke the wgole time we were there, but our room had no smoke smell.
The staff, particularly Andrew, was extremely helpful. My room was immaculate.
Very nice place and nice person at the reception. First of all, it was clean, there is a good wifi (at the lobby) and it's close to everything. I booked first 3 nights and then extended to one more night and they gave me a discount without I asked, which was very nice from them. They also changed my Belizean dollars to USD before I left, so I wasn't stuck with Belizean dollars and they granted my request for a bit later checkout without asking for extra fee.
Liked watching the sunset from the huge rooftop patio, taking an afternoon swim in the pool our 3rd floor room with its king size bed and 2 big windows Didn't like the fact that if wet the floors and steps could be very slippery....caution signs are everywhere
The hotel is centrally located, just off of the main street. It has a market just below the hotel, cold water, drinks snd snacks. We did thoroughly enjoy the pool after a hot day in the sun, its private, offering sun & shade to relax in. The room was a great size, clean, fresh sheets, towels, air conditioning and secure. Andrew made us feel so welcome, he arranged the best guides for snorkeling we were treated like family. It was a wonderful stay and we cannot wait to visit again. Would and will recommend to anyone wanting an affordable stay in one of the most relaxing and beautiful places in Belize. Thank you Andrew!!
Originally i had booked the standard room which at $60, i thought must be great, but the room i was shown was quite small with no window, not ideal for a claustrophobic! I asked for another room but that had a small window so i upgraded to the $98 one at the top, much better, a big room with 2 king size beds and two windows plus a fabulous view of the sea 😊 bit pricy but my last few days of holidays and it was Christmas. Water is replaced everyday bit instead of plastic bottles it would be better if they had a water machine in reception like other hotels had. Andrew is a lovely receptionist and nothing was too much trouble for him.
Unfortunely there was some loud construction going on at 10:30 PM......sounded like guys will hammers. I had to get up and go find the lady at front desk to ask them to stop.
The China Town Hotel is the best large place to stay on the island of Caye Caulker. It's centrally located on the south side of the island south of the Split between the snorkeling area and the boating area. There is a restaurant and a supermarket on the premises. The restaurant serves breakfast then opens again for dinner. Bar with music on premises as well. The rooms are cleaned every day and the staff is very friendly. There is a very large outdoor space with some shade and some direct sun space. The outdoor pool is not heated but the typical hot Caribbean sun makes a coolish water tolerable. There is space for laying out by the pool if you want to tan. There are common areas on the different floors with benches and swings. Affordable rates and multiple bed rooms are available. It is very safe as you must go through the restaurant waiting area then the common area to get to the stairs to the floors. No rooms are accessible from the street. Plenty of fun nearby. The only place to eat after midnight is Munchies which is on the next block over. You can see it from the rooftop of the hotel. There are often lines. The I and I reggae bar usually has crowds after midnight and dance music. Island Temptations around the corner serves cooked breakfasts. Panda chinese restaurant nearby is very good as well. Island Queen three blocks west of the hotel is the bar where the locals go. Everything else on the main drag is touristy but affordable and enjoyable.
The place was very clean and the staff was ok. The views from the top are amazing. The only issue or complaint we have is the bathroom facilities. Flushing and water temperature for showering were challenges. Overall good and I would consider staying again.
