Fun for nostalgia to stay on QE2. No atmosphere and lots of rooms screened off. Climbing into bed not easy - walls on 3 sides!

    A lovely experience
What can I say? The world famous QE2. Even as I drove up to this great ship, a shiver of excitement went down my spine. This famous, majestic iconic ship, is well match with its wonderful staff. I've circled this planet many times over, and I can honestly say, the staff onboard the QE2 are one of the best I've ever encountered. An extremely warm welcoming by reception staff, was mirrored by all staff onboard. Their professionalism, helpfulness, and politeness was just brilliant. I stayed in a very spacious deluxe room. Despite this room being very large, it still came with its very own dressing room. This was matched with an equally decent sized bathroom, with toiletries. Although there's still work going on onboard, it certainly didn't impede my stay. The buffet breakfast catered to all needs, wants, and tastes. And as always, was overseen by a great bunch of staff. I regularly visit Dubai, and stay in the city centre with all the hustle and bustle. This was a lovely quiet oasis in Mina Rashid. But still a cheap cab ride to Burjuman Mall and metro. It's just a shame it doesn't have an outdoor pool, which is always what I look for when booking hotels. With the lovely breeze coming in off the Arabian Gulf, it would be lovely to relax and have a swim. Keep up the great work.

    A very disappointing stay !
A very disappointing stay ! I stayed here for 2 nights April 9 and 10, 2019. The room was toooo small, very cramped, more like a capsule. The "sea view" which I had paid extra for, was through two small port holes covered with rather fixed curtains and no access. The double bed was good but kept on a fixed platform with no space around it and one has to crawl through the bed for access. I know this is a ship but thought would have been modified and improved to function more like a hotel. The whole ship looked like completely stripped of anything one could call luxury and left like a skeleton and completely bare ! There are no programs or functions anywhere. Very few residents ! The ship is very historic but that's all about it ! It's good to visit but not at all to stay in ! There are several 5 star hotels available for half the rate ! All the staff were very nice and courteous, especially Baburkhan at the front desk and Joelle the tour guide. The buffet breakfast was excellent ! The detached Terminal building and the lobby were very nice.

Worth a look but don’t expect too much
Great place to stay if you want to see the QE2 but although it’s been open a year large areas of the ship are still not open and access to the decks is limited. The bars were deserted, no atmosphere and there was no information in the room about the complicated opening hours / happy hours / dry days etc. Lighting in the standard cabin was very poor, only 1 ceiling light and a dim standard lamp, it was too dark to read. Hard to walk anywhere from the QE2 but taxis are cheap.
