Excellent overnight stay
The hotel and bar/restaurant were very clean and we were very happy with the room that we had, it was huge and had everything in it that we required. We were surprised to find that the shower had really good water pressure and loads of hot water available. Yes the room was above the pub courtyard therefore you heard noise from there but we closed the shutters and pulled the curtains and we didn't need the ear plugs that were provided. We had dinner in the pub as well and it was very good quality pub food. Breakfast was also excellent, the only negative point was that the cooked breakfast was not that warm when it was served. Otherwise an excellent stay and we will be returning.

Old Vine Nice Time
Felt at home and relaxed from first to last. Great hosts, location, drinks and breakfast was superb. Room had space, comfort, charm, cleanliness and, of course, the Old Vine outside the window for the view to the Cathedral. Parking worked out fine. Soft mattress not my preference. Preferred the Old Vine to Hotel du Vin.

Very Good 8.0
Great property, amazing location, but with caveats
Had a very enjoyable stay at The Old Vine. As instructed, we arrived at the rear of the property at Check In and I collected the very helpful laminated parking permit (with very clear parking instructions and a map - much appreciated!) Check in was via the bar (which was a bit crowded - Saturday afternoon) but we were shown to our very comfortable room by a friendly member of staff. The room itself was large, with a king sized 'sley bed', and other heavy wooden furniture. The bathroom was a good size, although no bath. The pub itself is fantastic, with excellent beers and wines on offer (not to mention the fantastic sausage rolls you can get as a snack). But it's the location that makes the property - you are right in the heart of the (small) city and directly opposite the cathedral. If you have one day in Winchester, this is the place to stay! The breakfast was hearty, big and delicious. It must be noted, however, that as the pub is very old, there is virtually no sound-proofing. During the day, you could pretty much make out individual conversations in the bar below. This is probably why you can find packs of ear plugs in the bathroom when you check in! That being said, we returned after last orders, and the hotel was silent. Other slight grip - breakfast is only available until 0930, which on a Sunday morning seems a tad unfair. In conclusion, I would recommend the Old Vine, but with caveats.

Wonderful hotel, parking is an issue, but all town centre hotels have the same issue. Food beautiful, the room was very large and full of antique charm. Large bathroom, complimentary toiletries, robes and slippers. Loved the vintage features of the wooden shutters on the windows, and sash windows overlooking the cathedral.

Hotel perfection.
From the moment Tom welcomed us and took our bag we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The building is old and so very charming. Our room was amazing, clean, beautifully furnished and every comfort was thought of. From fluffy robes, good quality coffee, tea etc. Complimentary milk, water and fresh orange in the fridge. A safe, extra pillows and views of the cathedral. Stunning. The bar is an adult friendly space where conversation is king. No kids, tv’s or fruit machines, bliss. The families room is cheery and welcoming. The Vine is centrally placed to explore Winchester, and guests are given a residents parking permit for on street parking close by. The breakfast was simply brilliant. Cooked to order with the finest of ingredients. Children are well catered for. I cannot find one area for improvement here. Even the chap painting the front door was friendly and very professional. Well done to all at The Vine. Don’t change a thing, you cannot improve on perfection. Thank you for a great stay.

We were delayed in our arrival but we were made to feel welcome by the staff even though it was approaching midnight. The wrong was super comfortable and spacious. The service at breakfast was wonderful. Have no faults to find at all and we hope to return and spend longer here
