This was a last minute booking because I had to move from another property. The Jazz corner was great. The staff - everyone of them exceeded expectations when it came to service. Very clean, quite, convenient. The jazz corner hotel has a great cafe in the lobby and has also a very good restaurant for breakfast. Will recommend to anyone looking for a five star accomodation and service with a 3 star price tag.

4/10 Fair

Never again
This was my 2nd stay at Jazz Corner, this time for a planned 7 nights for the Avalon Airshow. Problems included: * Was told I had to take two lifts to get to my room. Later in my stay I found a far easier way to get there via one lift. * Key didn't work first time I went to my room, had to take the two lifts back down with all my luggage, no apologies offered, just a shrug and a quick key re-program. * Had an unknown 'beep' every 60 secs in my room on afternoon of day 2, I told reception as I went out for the evening, got back around 9pm and it was still there. Was told maintenance had gone home and hotel was full so I couldn't move rooms. No solution offered, just two drink vouchers. I had two hours sleep that night! * Beep was still there the next afternoon, spoke to FO Mgr who eventually diagnosed it as the dishwasher beeping. FO Mgr offered free parking for just one night as compensation! * Reception entered my room without knocking as I was watching TV on day 2. I asked about it, and they apologised saying they were showing a room to a potential guest and hadn't checked if it was vacant. No service recovery offered. This is dreadful! * Parking is terrible - space wasn't guaranteed, $40/night & had to pay for it immediately, couldn't be added to my account. * I checked out a day early but, despite all of the above, I was charged for the seventh night anyway.

8/10 Very good

A Hotel of mixed blessings.
The Jazz Corner Hotel is a little way from the CBD but has a park opposite and is close to a rails station and tram line, including the free city circle line. It shares a building with another hotel. This leads to some odd manoeuvres with the lift whereby you have to go to floor 3A in one lift and then change to a different floor to go any higher. Our room had been reconfigured and some of the fixtures, such as the two big screen televisions, looked very new. For us the big plus of this hotel is that it has a kitchenette and washing marching/tumble dryer. However this equipment is looking pretty old now. The dish washer wasn’t working properly and neither was the tumble dryer. The staff on the reception desk were both very good and unhelpful. When we checked in we were told that our room rate included breakfast in their mezzanine restaurant, however that was incorrect. Something we found out the day after when we tried to get breakfast. However the person on the desk when we checked out couldn’t have been more helpful. This was our second visit, but I doubt that we will use them again. There are simply too many alternatives to choose from in Melbourne.

Lovely hotel, great location. Confusing because hotel advertises kitchen facilities but does not provide cooking equipment and utensils.
