Dave and Miriam are amazing hosts. The place is beautiful, surrounded by lush gardens. Up the mountain, just 10 minutes from downtown Kailua Kona. Miriam prepares a fabulous breakfast, mostly homemade (even the bread is homemade). Rooms are cottage type, feel very private.
My 82nd birthday was at the fabulous Hale Maluhia Country Inn. We arrived late , but Dave and Marianne owners were there to greet us. We took the 800sq foot room. A must .!!We reserved the room again for Valentines Day. If you like the jungle you will like here. The Frogs mating call at nite were music to our ears. I tried the sounds on my wife. "You dont sound like a Frog, " she said, and was fast asleep in our new King Size bed. Breakfast was a tour of food. Yummy and Fresh. Jim and Sandy
Out of the city with beautiful grounds. Has a great jungle atmosphere with a variety of birds all around. If you don’t want to be woke up at 6:08 AM by a whinny child next door coming through your window, this is not the place for you. There are very over powering air fresheners in the room that could work for an entire house. Very friendly host, beautiful place just not very peaceful.
We greatly appreciated the personal connection with the owners as well as the tremendous plants and birds on the property.
This is listed as a B and B. Breakfast cost an additional $30.00. Towels were getting threadbare. Clean though.
The room had a very comfortable bed and a homey feel. It was bright and clean but cozy with an attached, well appointed bathroom. The property was set in the woods with stone rimmed gardens, groomed terraced lawns and an array of tropical and migrating wild birds at various feeders. The deck was covered and faced more well maintained gardens The tasty home made breakfast and fresh warm bread was served open air on linen tablecloths A peaceful and elegant setting. The hosting family was helpful with local tips and we instantly felt welcome. Even before our visit the communication was excellent.
Outstanding breakfasts! Very friendly hosts. Room had lots of features: able to eat in room or on lanai. Somewhat rustic and noisy but a nice fan kept road & frog noise limited. We really enjoyed it there for many nights.
We really enjoyed our stay here. We loved our daily breakfast of fresh fruit, homemade bread and omelettes. It was fun to watch the birds and exchange tips on where to eat and what to do with fellow travelers each morning. The hot tub was nice and the perfect temperature. Loved the frogs singing at night and the birds singing in the morning. Dave and Miriam are great hosts.
