Evocative hotel in the heart of Santiago
As a journalist, I didn’t think I could love a hotel that didn’t serve alcohol but the Casa Zanartu is a very special place. The building is old and evocative, the staff are wonderful, it is a short walk to the very centre of Santiago and there is a lovely terrace. And if you do want a beer, just step outside.

Good 6.0
Terrible attitude to customer service
A few tips: before you stay, make sure you look at the room you are being given. Despite picking this hotel and the room type ('suite') months in advance after careful consideration, we were shown to a room off the main corridor and opening onto the public courtyard - it had no natural light and no fresh air as if you opened the doors or windows everyone would be able to see in. The room was gloomy and depressing and not at all as pictured. When I said it wasn't as represented I was given a line about how they have several suites and each one is different. I had to be quite persistent to be offered an alternative room - this one was upstairs and had windows which opened and natural light, and was fine. I couldn't understand why you would give someone the worst room when you have a perfectly good room also available - it's a terrible attitude to customer service. If we'd just been given the second room to start with we would have had a much more pleasant overall experience. Also, if leaving here to go to the airport, make sure you have cash (they don't seem to take credit cards) and just hail a taxi on the street. The hotel refused to call any taxi company except for the one they have a relationship with, and this cost us double what a normal taxi would have. It was also stated to be coming in 10 minutes, whereas the reality was more like 40. We nearly missed our plane and this caused extreme unnecessary stress (we didn't have any cash left and so couldn't get a regular taxi).

Thank You Casa Zañartu
First time in Santiago, Chile with no or little Spanish. But Hotel reception speaks good English. This hotel and it's workers are excellent. I had their names in a piece of paper but lost it. Sorry Guys. they are very Polite & Respectful. I would book this hotel anytime with my eye closed. Plaza De Armas, Marcade Central 5 min walk, from there you can get on Santiago City Sightseeing Bus. Thank you all at Casa Zanartu. See you next time.

Very Good 8.0
When I booked this hotel I thought it was a lot close to Providencia than it was. The Hotel was really cool and very interesting historical landmark, clean, feels European. but not all that close to a lot of the city sightseeing. Not such a great part of town, be careful walking at night. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. Food in the Cafe, authentic Chilean fare! Yummy.

Convenient Location
Clean room with high ceilings in a historic building. Shower was small but worked fine. Wi-Fi was solid. Quick visit as I arrived late and was flying out the next afternoon but location was convenient to walking to the Mercado.
