Service issues but otherwise a good hotel
The service at the hotel was disappointing. We had booked an airport pickup and the hotel asked for flight details etc. When we found out our flight may be delayed we sent an email before leaving to advise the hotel of a likely delay to our flight and we sent an URL for Skopje Airport asking them to check the latest flight status before sending the car. When we arrived (late) the reception staff made a snide comment about arriving late and the car having to wait for us. When we checked out the hotel tried to charge us twice for the airport pickup. I told the staff that I had sent an email warning them of the delay. The receptionist acknowledged the email but said that he can't be expected to check the flight status of all of his clients when arranging a airport pick up therefore we must pay twice for the delay. We did not pay for the additional pick up and raised a complaint but it took a lot argument to reach this outcome and it took some of the pleasure out of our stay in what is a lovely city. In fairness to the staff he was presumably doing his job in line with the hotel's policies. But if so that leaves an impression of service levels at the hotel - i.e. ignoring an email from a client warning of delays because it is unreasonable to have to check the flight status. It is a pity as in many ways the hotel is good. It is in a great location next to the Old Bazaar part of the city and it has great views from the breakfast and bar area. Also the breakfast was fantastic.
