Hotel Mar Rey

Very basic, but clean property. If you want to be center of town and beach its a perfect location. Pool was never busy, so really nice and quiet. You can hear town noise, but nothing horrible. Our bedroom was very basic, bathroom remodeled. Staff are super friendly.

Awesome location in downtown Tamarindo. The pool was excellent. Do not pick this hotel if you want quiet nights.

Shower doors broken, lots of water leakage after each shower taken

Very spacious room, large bathroom, great working AC, nice pool, perfect location. My room must have been renovated or something because it felt really nice for the $84/night I paid.

This was a last minute choice. The room smelled of pee or mold. We came to the conclusion it was mold. The bathrrom door was absolutely disgusting see photo attached. We wanted to leave but we stuck it out since it was so late.

My stay was short, but I wish I could have stayed the whole 2 weeks at this place. The staff was excellent and the rooms on point. It’s so close to everything in town, beach across the street, restaurants, bars, and rental places a hop skip and a jump away. I’m definitely going to stay at Mar Rey again.

Clogged toilets! Not enough towels there were a lot of hanging wires. Missing bulbs and shower is clogged. I understand that you are not supposed to put the toilet paper in but give me big garbage can. When I checked out they told me that they email my receipt. I requested it again via email, still didn’t send it to me. They were few charges in card that I would like to know.

This hotel might have been a nice place 40 years ago. It is run down and looks more like an old motel. There were people outside doing business?? All night long. We checked out as soon as morning came. One good thing is the the beach is across the street. Nice location for a 2 star hotel.

This Hotel is in a great location to the beach, bars and restaurants. It is a basic hotel with a very nice pool. It is a family owned property and the owners are always there to answer any questions. It was rare not to see someone cleaning. I would stay here again when I return.

The outside was a great look and good location. The pool is great. But the place has very thin walls and the bedding was just as thin. We could hear every club in the area all night and neighbors playing loud music into the early morning. Great place if you are wanting to party and don’t desire privacy and sleep. The bathroom smelled awful after a shower (pipes must be disgusting) and the toilet had a sign saying not to flush toilet paper.
