Oakland find!
Clean. Fresh looking paint. Cute colors at the entrance make it easy to find. Right at a bus stop that comes & goes to BART. Good A/C! (Faucet broken in room 102). Relatively quiet; shutting the bathroom door keeps out the street noise.

Affordable place in the Mission
This little hotel is in the Mission, right next to a BART station and has good prices. It’s near some good restaurants and less than a ten-minute walk to Tartine Bakery. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they have nice, free coffee and tea in the lobby. However, the building is a little older and not too soundproofed. The downside of affordable prices is the fact that there are shared bathrooms. They’re clean and serviceable but nonetheless shared. Arguably worth it for the savings, however. I’d stay there again if I was traveling to SF solo.

Dig the pink
Somehow I missed that it was shared bathrooms so that was unexpected but they and the showers were very clean so it was OK.

Eh
Don’t arrive at 3am after your flights been delayed because you will be scared for your life walking from the Uber to the door. Other than that a solid 6/10. Worth the cheap price, clean rooms.

A solid value
My roommate's family was in town for Mother's Day and needed to stay an extra night due to a missed flight, and had already checked out of their hotel. I offered my bedroom so that they could save some money, and my roommate offered to cover my arrangements. I looked for something cheap, clean, with internet access, and near a BART station, so that getting to work the next morning would be easy. Through Hotels.com's filters, I found a great deal on a room at the Union Hotel, which ticked all those boxes (the room was clean, the internet connection was very strong, and the 16th Street BART station runs literally directly underneath the hotel, with the entrance to the station literally outside the front door and about 40 feet/20 seconds' walk away). And with the location (16th/Mission) comes the convenience of 24-hour easy access to any number of local convenience stores. The only complaints I have are comparatively minor: - Any hotel with shared bathrooms could always be maintained better, and this one's no exception. - The neighborhood is VERY sketchy, with all sorts of sketchy people literally just outside the hotel's front entrance all day, and at all hours of the night, playing music loudly, or arguing, fighting, laughing, whatever. And it's all down at the absolute loudest volume possible, with apparently little regard for anyone who lives (or sleeps for a night) in the neighborhood. Given the price, I can live with the noise, and consider this hotel a solid value.
