What a joke! This is obviously an old dorm building turned hotel on the UIHC campus. You check-in in one place, then have to drive around the corner to park in a garage, walk back across the street, and enter a different door, finagle your way through a maze (I told my family we were in a giant escape room, but not the fun type), they cant control there heat, so they have a sign that basically said "we know it's hot in the winter, but you can open the window!" Really??? The room was soooo dry. My kids laughed because "in the dark when you move the sheets you can see sparks." And dirty-OMG-WOW. One of the coffee cups still had someone's lipstick on it!!! I will NEVER go back. The only good thing about this place was the receptionist! NEVER AGAIN!!!
Staff members were excellent. Room was average. No breakfast although it was advertised. No ice, broken hairdryer. Very small room and bathroom.
Very helpful staff
It's an interesting place on the University of Iowa campus. My main complaint was the room placement. The large hotel was nearly empty, however, we were put in a room right next to another occupied room. The college experience was reinforced by hearing our neighbor have a bull session well into the night. The hotel is dated and feels like a dorm, but it is clean and spacious. Included parking is a plus. Staffed by students.
It was very unique in the way that your close to the college feel, almost like you are a student
The woman at the front desk was awesome, and explained everything we would need to know to us. Finding the hotel, and where to park was confusing at first, but once you figure it out it was simple.
Horrible service. Took perfectly good credit cards to finally go through. The location of this hotel is on the University campus. Didn't realize this at time of bookung. My fault. Horrible parking situation. Im handicapped, but because I didn't have my parking permit with me,I was in a rental, they wouldnt accommodate me with parking near the hotel. All parking is in a parking garage 2 blocks away. Because I expressed my displeasure with their terrible parking arrangements the manager called my room after i had pur my 2 young daughters to bed and threatened to kick us out if I had anything else to complain about. No exaggeration! They did validate parking, the rooms were clean and comfortable the hallways and elevator were dingy smelly noisy.
it is mainly a hotel for family that has youth attending U of Iowa. It's a dorm wing that has been remodeled for this. was a comfortable stay but is not the same as staying at other hotels. All amenities have been canceled because of the virus.
I'm an artist on a cross country trip. This was a pleasant stay in a beautiful town. I will return.
